Construct Factory Guide — Tears of the Kingdom

The Construct Factory is one of the most important locations in the Depths of Hyrule — a massive Zonai manufacturing complex that produces Constructs and stores ancient technology. It houses a Seized Construct mini-boss, contains the highest density of Ancient Blade drops in the game, and connects to the lore explaining how Zonai Constructs were created and maintained.

Location

The Construct Factory is located in the central-north Depths, roughly below the Eldin region on the surface map. Look for it near:

  • Depth coordinates: approximately (-0400, 2100, -0500)
  • Surface equivalent: Eldin Canyon / Goron City area directly above
  • Nearest Lightroot: Iayusus Lightroot (activate this first — it provides fast travel back to the factory area)

The factory is visible from a distance as a large rectangular structure with glowing orange Zonai tech lights along its perimeter. It is significantly larger than standard Depths ruins.

Getting There

Fastest Route

  1. Activate Eldin Canyon Skyview Tower on the surface
  2. Descend into the Depths via the Eldin Canyon chasm (northeast of the Skyview Tower)
  3. Navigate south through the Depths staying near the central path
  4. Follow Zonai ruins toward the glowing factory complex

Bring: Brightbloom Seeds (for lighting), Gloom resistance food (the factory area has elevated Gloom density), and at least 40 arrows.

Inside the Construct Factory

Main Floor

The factory's main level contains:

  • 12 Soldier Constructs (mix of Tier I, II, and III) patrolling the floor
  • 4 treasure chests embedded in the factory walls (accessible via Ascend through specific platforms)
  • 2 Zonai Dispensers — pay Zonai Charges for random device drops including rockets, fans, and cannons
  • Ancient Blade drops — elite Constructs on the main floor have a 15–20% chance to drop Ancient Blades

Upper Level (Walkway)

The factory has a raised walkway system accessible via ladders on the east and west walls:

  • Contains Soldier Construct IV enemies — the highest-tier Construct variant, dropping the best weapons
  • Rare ore veins embedded in the factory ceiling (use bomb arrows to break them)
  • A lookout platform with a long sightline over the factory floor useful for picking off Constructs with arrows before they detect you

Control Chamber (North End)

The northernmost chamber is the boss arena:

  • Contains the Seized Construct mini-boss
  • Three giant treasure chests visible behind the boss, accessible after defeating it
  • The control panel (post-boss) activates the factory's Lightroot-equivalent beacon for easy future navigation

Seized Construct Boss Fight

The Seized Construct is a giant Zonai machine similar in size to a Talus, animated by Gloom corruption. It is immune to conventional attack except at its weak point.

Phase 1 — Gloom Armor

The Seized Construct is covered in Gloom-infused armor plating that deflects most attacks. To expose the weak point:

  1. Use Recall on the giant stone blocks the boss throws — the blocks reverse trajectory and strike the boss, breaking armor sections
  2. Alternatively, attach bombs to arrows and fire at the glowing orange joints between armor plates
  3. After 3–4 hits on armor sections, the chest plate breaks, exposing the orange Zonai Core (weak point)

Phase 2 — Core Exposed

Once the core is exposed:

  1. Switch to your highest attack weapon
  2. Deliver 8–10 hits to the core (it is vulnerable during the boss's recovery animation after each throw attack)
  3. The boss will re-armor itself after taking significant core damage — repeat armor breaking as needed
  4. Flurry Rush opportunities appear when the boss's arm sweep misses — dodge backward and immediately counterattack the exposed core

Phase 3 — Enraged

Below 25% health, the Seized Construct increases attack speed and spawns two Soldier Construct II minions. Ignore the minions initially and focus core damage. The minions can be cleaned up afterward with standard weapons.

Recommended weapons: A strong fused weapon (40+ damage) for core hits; a bow with Bomb Arrows for armor breaking.

Rewards

Defeating the Seized Construct drops:

  • Ancient Blade × 2 (guaranteed)
  • Zonai Charge × 5 (guaranteed)
  • Seized Construct Horn (rare material — used in armor upgrades)
  • Random weapon with modifier (Attack Up or Durability Up tier)

The three post-boss chests contain:

  1. Strong Zonai Shield (modified)
  2. Zonai Charge × 10
  3. Royal Guard's Bow (or equivalent endgame bow)

Ancient Blade Farming Loop

The Construct Factory is the best consistent source of Ancient Blades in the game. After defeating the boss and clearing the factory once:

  1. Save resources — do not exhaust all weapons clearing the factory on your farming run
  2. Target Soldier Construct IV enemies first (upper walkway) — highest Ancient Blade drop rate
  3. Clear the main floor Constructs for additional drops
  4. Wait for Blood Moon to respawn all enemies
  5. Repeat

Expected yield per run: 2–4 Ancient Blades (1 guaranteed boss kill + 1–3 from Construct drops). With Blood Moon timing (every 2.5 hours real-time), you can complete approximately 2 runs per hour.

Lore Notes

The factory floor contains stone tablets (readable with the Purah Pad) that describe the original Zonai manufacturing process for Constructs. The tablets reveal:

  • Constructs were designed to maintain Zonai installations for thousands of years after the Zonai themselves departed
  • The Seized Construct variant was created as a factory guardian specifically to protect the manufacturing process from outside interference
  • The factory is believed to have continued operating automatically since the Zonai era, producing smaller Constructs that have spread throughout the Depths and Sky Islands

This lore connects directly to the Sages' stories and explains the origin of the Constructs found throughout all three layers of Hyrule.

Tips

  • Bring Brightbloom Seeds — the factory's interior lighting is dim and Brightbloom markers help you track patrol routes without Minimap navigation
  • Target the upper walkway first — Soldier Construct IV enemies there have the best loot and can be killed from range with headshots before they detect you
  • Don't skip the Zonai Dispensers — spending 5 Zonai Charges on a dispenser roll occasionally yields a Rocket or Cannon useful for the boss fight
  • Gloom hands can spawn near the factory entrance at low health — clear the approach path before engaging the factory interior
  • The factory connects underground to a tunnel leading east toward the Akkala Depths — useful for chaining exploration routes
