Enemy Weakness Guide — The Complete Combat Reference

Every enemy in TotK has specific weaknesses, resistances, and optimal engagement strategies. This guide is a quick-reference matrix organized by enemy type — use it to instantly know what weapon, element, and tactic to use against any enemy you encounter.

Enemy Weakness Matrix

Bokoblins

| Variant | HP | Weakness | Resistant To | Best Tactic | |---------|-----|----------|-------------|-------------| | Red Bokoblin | 13 | Everything — weakest enemy | Nothing | Any weapon, 1-2 hits | | Blue Bokoblin | 72 | Fire, headshots | Nothing | Headshot + melee follow-up | | Black Bokoblin | 240 | Headshots, flurry rush | Nothing | Perfect dodge → flurry rush | | Silver Bokoblin | 720 | Elemental arrows, sneak strikes | Nothing | Sneak strike (x8 damage) | | Boss Bokoblin | 108-900 | Leg attacks (stagger), fire arrows | Frontal attacks | Hit legs → climb → smash horn |

Drop note: Silver Bokoblins drop gems (ruby, sapphire, topaz) — worth farming for rupees.

Moblins

| Variant | HP | Weakness | Resistant To | Best Tactic | |---------|-----|----------|-------------|-------------| | Red Moblin | 54 | Headshots, leg sweeps | Nothing | Shield parry → counter | | Blue Moblin | 144 | Fire, headshots | Nothing | Kite with arrows, dodge charges | | Black Moblin | 360 | Flurry rush, sneak strike | Nothing | Perfect dodge → flurry rush | | Silver Moblin | 1080 | Elemental burst, Urbosa's ability | Nothing | Lightning fuse weapons |

Combat note: Moblins have long reach but slow recovery. After they swing, there's a 2-second window to counterattack freely.

Lizalfos

| Variant | HP | Weakness | Resistant To | Best Tactic | |---------|-----|----------|-------------|-------------| | Green Lizalfos | 18 | Headshots, ice | Nothing | Headshot stun → melee | | Blue Lizalfos | 72 | Ice, shock | Nothing | Ice arrows freeze them solid | | Black Lizalfos | 216 | Shock, headshots | Nothing | Shock arrow → approach → melee | | Silver Lizalfos | 540 | Shock, flurry rush | Nothing | Perfect dodge their tongue attack | | Fire-Breath Lizalfos | 72 | Ice (x3 damage) | Fire (immune) | Ice arrows one-shot | | Ice-Breath Lizalfos | 72 | Fire (x3 damage) | Ice (immune) | Fire arrows one-shot | | Electric Lizalfos | 72 | Ice (x2 damage) | Electric (immune) | Ice or fire arrows |

Key insight: Elemental Lizalfos take triple damage from their opposite element. An Ice Arrow one-shots a Fire Lizalfos regardless of the bow's base damage.

Hinox / Stalnox

| Variant | HP | Weakness | Resistant To | Best Tactic | |---------|-----|----------|-------------|-------------| | Red Hinox | 600 | Eye shots (stun), legs | Nothing | Arrow to eye → run in → melee legs | | Blue Hinox | 900 | Eye shots, bomb arrows | Nothing | Bomb Arrow to eye → flurry rush | | Black Hinox | 1200 | Eye shots, ancient weapons | Covers eye with hand | Shoot eye when hand drops, or Ascend under belly | | Stalnox | 1000 | Eye on ground (after collapse) | Body attacks (immune until eye exposed) | Reduce HP → skeleton collapses → attack eye directly |

Farming note: Hinox drop their necklace items (weapons, shields) when defeated. Black Hinox necklaces contain Royal-tier gear.

Lynels

| Variant | HP | Weakness | Resistant To | Best Tactic | |---------|-----|----------|-------------|-------------| | Red-Maned Lynel | 2000 | Headshot stun → mount | Nothing | Headshot → mount → 5 free hits (no durability loss) | | Blue-Maned Lynel | 3000 | Headshot stun → mount | Nothing | Same as red, requires more cycles | | White-Maned Lynel | 4000 | Headshot stun → mount, Urbosa's Fury | Nothing | Headshot → mount → repeat 8-10 times | | Silver Lynel | 7500 | Headshot stun → mount, flurry rush | Nothing | Master the mount cycle or die | | Armored Lynel | 7500 | Headshot (only arrows to face work) | Body shots (armor deflects) | Must hit face — no body damage at all |

Critical Lynel mechanic: When you stun a Lynel with a headshot, you can mount it and attack 5 times with any weapon — these hits cost zero durability. This is the most efficient way to fight Lynels and preserves your best weapons.

Gleeok

| Variant | HP | Weakness | Resistant To | Best Tactic | |---------|-----|----------|-------------|-------------| | Flame Gleeok | 4500 | Ice arrows to all 3 heads | Fire (immune) | Ice Arrow each head → heads drop → melee | | Frost Gleeok | 4500 | Fire arrows to all 3 heads | Ice (immune) | Fire Arrow each head → melee on ground | | Thunder Gleeok | 4500 | Ice arrows to all 3 heads | Electric (immune) | Ice arrows, rubber armor recommended | | King Gleeok | 9000 | Must match element per head (1 fire, 1 ice, 1 electric) | Each head resists its own element | Switch arrow types per head — hardest enemy |

Gleeok phase 2: When all 3 heads are stunned simultaneously, the Gleeok collapses for 10 seconds. Sprint in and deal maximum melee damage. After collapse, it flies into the sky for an aerial phase — use updraft + bow to continue head shots.

Talus

| Variant | HP | Weakness | Resistant To | Best Tactic | |---------|-----|----------|-------------|-------------| | Stone Talus | 300-600 | Ore deposit on top (weak point) | Body (minimal damage) | Climb → smash ore with rock-fused weapon | | Luminous Talus | 600 | Ore deposit, blunt weapons | Body | Same as Stone, drops Luminous Stones | | Igneo Talus | 600 | Ice (stuns, exposes ore) | Fire (immune to fire weapons) | Ice arrow → climb → smash | | Frost Talus | 600 | Fire (stuns, exposes ore) | Ice (immune) | Fire arrow → climb → smash | | Battle Talus | 600+ | Ore deposit + monster camp on top | Body | Kill monsters first (arrows), then climb for ore |

Universal Talus tip: Fuse a rock or boulder to a heavy weapon. The rock-fused weapon does x2 damage to the ore deposit.

Gibdo

| Variant | HP | Weakness | Resistant To | Best Tactic | |---------|-----|----------|-------------|-------------| | Gibdo | 84 | Any element strips armor → then vulnerable | Physical attacks (bounces off armor) | Fire/ice/shock arrow → immediately melee | | Moth Gibdo | 72 | Any element | Physical (armored until element applied) | Same as Gibdo, but they fly — shoot first |

Critical Gibdo mechanic: Gibdos are essentially immune to physical attacks until you hit them with ANY elemental damage (fire, ice, electric, or even a splash from a Fire Fruit or Shock Fruit). One elemental hit strips their husk, then they die in 1-2 normal weapon swings.

Constructs (Soldier/Captain)

| Variant | HP | Weakness | Resistant To | Best Tactic | |---------|-----|----------|-------------|-------------| | Soldier Construct I | 20 | Everything | Nothing | 1-2 hits with any weapon | | Soldier Construct II | 56 | Headshots | Nothing | Headshot → melee | | Soldier Construct III | 108 | Headshots, shield parry | Nothing | Parry their attacks | | Captain Construct I | 100 | Flurry rush | Frontal shield block | Wait for attack → perfect dodge | | Captain Construct III | 300 | Flurry rush, bomb arrows | Shield block, ranged attacks | Bomb arrow to break shield → melee | | Flux Construct I | 600 | Pull core block with Ultrahand | Normal attacks (blocks rearrange) | Ultrahand the glowing cube → smash it | | Flux Construct III | 1800 | Ultrahand core, bomb arrows | Normal attacks | Pull core when exposed → aerial grab for flying phase |

Elemental Quick Reference

| Element | Strong Against | Carried By | |---------|---------------|------------| | Fire | Ice enemies, Gibdos, Frost Talus, wooden shields | Fire Fruit, Ruby, Fire Keese Wing | | Ice | Fire enemies, Flame Gleeok, Igneo Talus, Gibdos | Ice Fruit, Sapphire, Ice Keese Wing | | Electric | Water enemies, metal-wielding enemies, Gibdos | Shock Fruit, Topaz, Electric Keese Wing | | Bomb | Ore deposits, groups, structures | Bomb Flower (rare — save for Talus/groups) |

Tips

  • Sneak strikes deal x8 damage — crouch behind any unaware enemy and press attack for massive damage. Works on every enemy type.
  • Flurry rush (perfect dodge → attack) deals rapid multi-hit damage during slow-motion. Practice the timing against Bokoblins before trying Lynels.
  • Mounted Lynel attacks cost zero weapon durability — the single most important combat mechanic for weapon conservation.
  • Gibdos are immune to physics until de-husked — don't waste arrows on body shots. One elemental splash, then switch to melee.
  • Gleeok heads must all be stunned within seconds of each other — if you stun 2 heads but the first recovers before you hit the third, the stun window resets.
  • Blood Moon respawns all enemies — time your farming routes to run right after a Blood Moon for maximum efficiency.
