Fire Temple Guide — Yunobo, Mine Cart Terminals & Marbled Gohma
Fire Temple Guide — Yunobo's Charge & Marbled Gohma
The Fire Temple is set inside Death Mountain — a multi-level mine with cart tracks running throughout. You use Yunobo's roll attack to destroy crystal formations, activate switches, and navigate the vertical mine shaft structure. This guide covers all 5 terminals and the Marbled Gohma boss fight.
Prerequisites
- Complete the Goron questline — find Yunobo selling Marbled Rock Roast, restore his memory, accompany him to the Fire Temple entrance on Death Mountain
- Flamebreaker armor — the Death Mountain approach and Fire Temple interior are extremely hot. At least 2 pieces of Flamebreaker armor are required; all 3 for Fire Temple interior
- Fire resistance food — backup if your armor isn't fully upgraded
Getting to the Fire Temple
The Fire Temple entrance is inside Death Mountain, past the Goron City summit.
- Wear Flamebreaker armor (all 3 pieces recommended — the interior has lethal heat zones)
- Climb Death Mountain past Goron City → continue upward past the lava fields
- Follow the questline marker to the temple entrance (large stone gate with Goron carvings)
- Yunobo accompanies you through the gate
Note: Several Fire Temple areas have lava floors — jump over or use Zonai devices to traverse. Falling in lava causes immediate massive damage.
Yunobo's Roll Attack — How It Works
Yunobo's sage power: He rolls into a massive flaming ball that destroys crystal formations, activates pressure switches, and deals heavy damage to enemies.
Key uses:
- Crystal formations: Orange crystal growths block many doors and paths — Yunobo's roll shatters them
- Switches: Large orange pressure pads throughout the temple require Yunobo's weight
- Marbled Rock Roast: In later sections, Yunobo's fire can crack open rock formations to reveal hidden areas
- Enemy combat: Direct hit on enemies deals significant fire damage
Aiming: Aim Yunobo's direction before calling him. He rolls straight — position carefully for angled crystal targets.
Temple Overview
The Fire Temple is a vertical mine shaft structure — multiple floors connected by mine cart tracks and stairways. Progress generally goes downward then upward.
Terminal Locations
Terminal 1 — Entry Level (Cart Launch)
- From the entrance, find the first mine cart
- Board the cart → it moves along the track to the first platform
- Crystal formation blocking a door on the right wall
- Call Yunobo → aim at the crystals → roll breaks them → door opens → Terminal 1 inside
Terminal 2 — Second Level (Pressure Switch)
- Descend to the second level via the stairway on the left
- A large orange pressure pad is in the center of the platform
- Position Yunobo to roll directly onto the pad → his weight activates it → lift platform raises
- Ride the lift to the upper alcove → Terminal 2
Terminal 3 — Third Level (Angled Crystal)
- Continue descending — the third level has a diagonal crystal formation on the far wall
- The crystal is NOT directly in front of any launch position
- Aim trick: Stand to one side so Yunobo's roll path angles toward the diagonal crystal
- He bounces off the wall → hits the crystal on the rebound
- Or: use Ultrahand to reposition a metal barrier to redirect his roll
- Terminal 3 is past the crystal door
Terminal 4 — Mine Shaft Bottom (Lava Section)
- The bottom of the mine shaft has lava floor — do NOT fall in
- Metal platforms float on the lava — use Ultrahand to chain them as stepping stones
- Crystal formation on the far wall across the lava
- Position Yunobo on the edge → aim across → roll skips across the metal platforms and hits the crystal
- Terminal 4 is in the alcove past the lava section
Terminal 5 — Ascent Track (Moving Cart)
- From the lava bottom, board the ascending mine cart track
- The cart rises through the mine shaft toward the top
- Mid-ascent: crystal cluster on the shaft wall
- While in the cart, call Yunobo → aim at the moving crystal cluster → roll hits it
- Terminal 5 is at the top of the ascent track
Marbled Gohma — Boss Fight
With all 5 terminals active → the boss chamber opens → Marbled Gohma
Marbled Gohma is an enormous spider-crab hybrid with 4 legs covered in orange crystal armor and a large glowing eye.
Phase 1 — Crystal Leg Destruction
Marbled Gohma is initially on the ceiling, dropping down when combat starts.
The legs are its armor:
- All 4 legs are shielded by orange crystal armor
- Standard attacks on the body do no damage
- Must destroy the crystal armor on all 4 legs first
Strategy:
- Call Yunobo → aim at a leg → roll → crystal shatters on impact
- With leg crystal broken, melee the exposed leg for bonus damage
- Repeat for all 4 legs
- After all 4 crystals broken → Marbled Gohma's eye is exposed → this is the weak point
During leg phase: Marbled Gohma slams legs down trying to crush Link. Dodge the orange slam indicators (shadow ring shows impact zone). After each failed slam, the leg is briefly still — use that window for Yunobo's roll.
Phase 2 — Eye Attack Window
With all 4 legs de-armored, Marbled Gohma raises itself and exposes its central eye.
Attack the eye:
- Fire arrows directly at the glowing eye
- Yunobo's roll hitting the body staggers it — fires the eye directly forward (temporary exposure)
- Melee: sprint under and hit the eye while Gohma's body is lowered
Phase 2 attacks:
- Lava spit from above — creates lava pools on the floor. Avoid the pools.
- Leg slam combo — rapid 3-leg sequence. Dodge sideways.
- Rolling attack: Gohma curls into a ball and rolls across the arena. Jump over or run to the arena edge.
Leg armor respawns: Every 30-45 seconds, Marbled Gohma can regenerate crystal armor on 1-2 legs. Yunobo can break it again quickly — don't let all 4 regenerate or you lose your eye exposure window.
Rewards
- Heart Container (or Stamina exchange)
- Yunobo Sage's Vow — he permanently joins; his roll power available anywhere
- Fire Temple Clear — Goron City questline resolved; Yunobo returns to normal
Quick Tips
- Flamebreaker full set mandatory — the Fire Temple has heat zones that damage you even with partial fire resistance. Full Flamebreaker (or upgraded 2-piece) is required for survivability in the deepest sections.
- Yunobo's rebound trick — for angled crystals, position him so his roll bounces off a perpendicular wall to hit the diagonal target. This is the intended mechanic for Terminal 3. Experiment with angles.
- Don't fall in lava — lava in the bottom sections deals immediate major damage. Use Ultrahand to bridge metal platforms before crossing. Do not rush.
- Rolling attack dodge — Marbled Gohma's rolling ball form is best avoided by running to the arena wall and letting it pass. Jumping over it works but the timing is tight.
- Yunobo for leg armor in Phase 2 — when leg armor regenerates in Phase 2, call Yunobo immediately (don't wait until all 4 regenerate). One Yunobo roll breaks one leg crystal, keeping Gohma's eye exposed.
