Labyrinth Guide — All Three TotK Labyrinths, Rewards & Solutions
Labyrinth Guide — Three Mazes, Three Armor Rewards
Tears of the Kingdom contains three massive labyrinths scattered across Hyrule, each hiding a powerful armor set piece at its center altar. Every labyrinth also has a corresponding Sky version above it and a Depths version below — completing all three layers of a single labyrinth rewards the most powerful loot in that region.
Overview: The Three Labyrinths
| Labyrinth | Region | Primary Reward | Difficulty | |-----------|--------|----------------|------------| | Akkala Labyrinth | Northeast Hyrule | Vah Medoh Divine Helm | Hard | | North Lomei Labyrinth | Tabantha Tundra | Fierce Deity Mask | Hard | | South Lomei Labyrinth | Gerudo Desert | Cap of the Wild | Hard |
All three are large stone maze structures visible from Skyview Tower launches. The walls are too high to climb normally without stamina investment — the intended solution is to navigate from the entrance. However, the hoverbike makes all three trivially accessible from above if you prioritize rewards over puzzle experience.
Akkala Labyrinth
Location: Far northeast Hyrule, north of Akkala Citadel. Coordinates approximately (4235, 3275).
How to Reach: Launch from the Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower and fly northeast. The labyrinth is unmistakable — a massive square stone maze extending roughly 200 meters per side. There is no stable nearby; stock up at Akkala Stable before heading north.
Surface Maze Solution
The Akkala Labyrinth entrance is on the south wall. Navigate using these turns:
- Enter from the south gate
- Follow the main corridor north until the first T-junction — turn RIGHT
- Continue east, then north at the next junction
- Turn LEFT (west) at the dead-end wall
- Follow the long corridor north until the final junction — turn RIGHT (east)
- The center altar is straight ahead at the north end
Altar Chest: Contains the Vah Medoh Divine Helm — a divine beast-themed helmet from the Breath of the Wild Champion set. Wearing all three pieces (Helm, Armor, Greaves) grants the Champion's Tunic set bonus.
Sky Version
Directly above the Akkala Labyrinth, at sky altitude, is the Akkala Sky Labyrinth — a floating stone puzzle platform with aerial pathways. Launch from the Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower at maximum altitude and glide northeast and slightly upward to land on the outer rim.
The Sky Labyrinth has three wind-powered platforms that rotate on a cycle. Time your movement across them to reach the central platform with the sky chest: Large Zonai Charge × 5.
A shrine is located at the center of the sky version — Makasura Shrine (Blessing type, no puzzle, immediate reward of Light of Blessing).
Depths Version
Drop into the Akkala Depths chasm (northeast of the surface labyrinth). Navigate to the underground structure directly below the surface maze — it mirrors the surface map but is a compressed version of the maze pattern. Activate the Lightroot inside for a warp anchor.
The Depths chest contains: Royal Guard Bow (60 attack, 3-shot, high durability loss).
North Lomei Labyrinth
Location: Far northwest Hyrule, in the Tabantha Tundra region north of Snowfield Stable. Coordinates approximately (-3475, 3600).
How to Reach: Launch from Lindor's Brow Skyview Tower or the Rospro Pass tower and fly northwest. This is the most remote labyrinth — bring Level 2 cold resistance (two pieces of Snowquill Armor minimum or cooked cold-resist meals) before approaching. The tundra wolves and Ice-Breath Lizalfos outside the entrance are aggressive.
Surface Maze Solution
Entrance is on the southeast corner. Cold weather makes this the most punishing surface solve if you lack cold resistance.
- Enter from the southeast gate
- Turn LEFT (east) immediately at the first fork
- Follow the east wall north — stay close to the right-hand wall at every junction (right-hand rule)
- At the large central crossroads, continue NORTH (do not turn)
- The final corridor leads directly to the center altar from the north
Right-hand rule works on the North Lomei Labyrinth — press your right hand against the right wall and always turn right when possible. This solves the maze without memorizing the path.
Altar Chest: Contains the Fierce Deity Mask — one of the most iconic helmets in the game, part of the Fierce Deity set that massively increases attack when all three pieces are worn. The set also includes Fierce Deity Armor and Fierce Deity Boots found elsewhere.
Shrine at Center: Mayachin Shrine inside the maze center (Blessing type).
Sky Version
The North Lomei Sky Labyrinth floats at extreme altitude above the tundra. Launch from Lindor's Brow Tower at maximum height, then use a hoverbike or Zonai rocket boost to reach the floating platforms.
The sky maze is wind-swept — powerful gusts push Link off platforms unless he crouches. Navigate the outer ring clockwise to find the sheltered center platform. Chest contains: Tunic of Memories (artifact armor related to Zelda's journey).
A rare Gleeok Horn Shard × 3 drop is in the sky version's secondary chest — only accessible by solving the wind platform puzzle rather than landing directly on the center.
Depths Version
The North Lomei Depths version is below the frozen tundra — accessible from the large Tabantha Tundra Depths chasm. The underground maze is partially flooded with shallow water; bring shock-resistant gear or avoid metal weapons during traversal.
Depths chest: Snowquill Trousers +4 (already pre-upgraded — one of the few pre-upgraded items in the Depths). Also: Blue-White Frox Fang × 2 (rare Depths drop).
South Lomei Labyrinth
Location: Southern Gerudo Desert, near the Toruma Dunes. Coordinates approximately (-3240, -3535).
How to Reach: Launch from the Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower or Necluda Skyview Tower and fly west/southwest into the deep desert. The labyrinth is partially buried in sand dunes on its eastern face — the entrance is on the north wall. Heat resistance is strongly recommended (Flamebreaker Armor tier 1+ or Chilly Elixirs).
Surface Maze Solution
Entrance on the north wall. The South Lomei maze is the most complex of the three — the right-hand rule fails here due to a single loop section. Manual path:
- Enter north gate, turn LEFT (west)
- At the second fork, turn RIGHT (north)
- Continue north until the maze bends east — follow it east and then SOUTH at the long wall
- Turn WEST at the bottom of the south section
- Double back NORTH through the center corridor (marked by a broken pillar)
- The altar is at the maze's geometric center
Altar Chest: Contains the Cap of the Wild — part of the Wild set (Champion's Leathers). The Wild set bonus activates when all three pieces are worn and provides the unique "Wild Charge" effect.
Shrine at Center: Mayachidat Shrine (Blessing type).
Sky Version
The South Lomei Sky Labyrinth is the most dramatic — it hovers directly above the vast Gerudo desert at high altitude, visible as a dark silhouette from the Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower.
To reach it: launch from Gerudo Highlands tower at maximum altitude, then use a hoverbike pointed west with maximum fan power. The sky platform is large enough to land on with a glide approach from the east rim.
The sky maze is a pure navigation challenge with no environmental hazards. The solution follows the outer wall west, then south, then inward from the southwest corner. Three chests total: Gerudo Scimitar × 2, Diamond × 1 (rare drop), and the main chest containing Large Zonai Charge × 5.
Depths Version
Drop through the Gerudo Desert Depths chasm (several chasm entry points exist in the South Gerudo region). The underground South Lomei structure is partially submerged in gloom pools — Gloom resistance or Sundelion meals mandatory.
Depths chest: Phantom Greaves — part of the Phantom Armor set (high defense, one of the best non-boss armor sets in the game).
All-Three Completion Reward
Completing the altar quest in all three labyrinths (surface only) unlocks a notification from Josha at Lookout Landing's research station. Return to speak with her for context lore about the labyrinths' Zonai origins and a Large Zonaite × 10 bundle.
Completing ALL NINE labyrinth layers (surface + sky + depths for each) is tracked in the compendium but does not grant a special achievement — the reward is the cumulative loot and the full armor sets assembled from all three locations.
Hoverbike Strategy (Skip the Maze)
All three surface labyrinths are trivially bypassed with the meta hoverbike:
- Build hoverbike (2 fans + steering stick)
- Fly to altitude above the labyrinth
- Spot the center altar from above — it has a visible glow
- Descend vertically into the center
- Open the altar chest
- Fly out
This takes under 2 minutes per labyrinth. The sky versions require the hoverbike to reach in most cases regardless of strategy.
Labyrinth Enemy Encounters
Each labyrinth contains patrolling Constructs inside the maze corridors (Captain Construct II and III variants). They do not need to be defeated to reach the altar — avoid them with stealth or outrun them. The Depths versions contain Gloom Hands near the altar chests — use Bomb Flower arrows from range before approaching.
Tips
- Activate the Lightroot inside each Depths labyrinth before opening the chest — the Lightroot is always adjacent to the chest room
- The sky versions of all three labyrinths have wind hazards — equip the Glide Armor for increased paraglider control in gusts
- Bring at least 15 arrows (including 5 Bomb Flower arrows) per labyrinth visit for Gloom Hand encounters in the Depths
- The North Lomei Depths is the only one with shock-hazard water — equip Rubber Armor before entering
- Fierce Deity Mask from North Lomei Labyrinth is one of the game's best-looking helmets and the Fierce Deity full set is excellent for boss fights
Total time to complete all three surface labyrinths via hoverbike: approximately 20 minutes. Total time via ground navigation: 45–90 minutes depending on cold/heat resistance preparation.
