Lanayru Wetlands Region Guide — Exploration & Secrets in TotK
Overview
The Lanayru Wetlands is a large marshland region east of Hyrule Castle, stretching between Central Hyrule and Zora's Domain. Crisscrossed by rivers, shallow lakes, and reed banks, the wetlands serve as the primary approach to Zora's Domain and the Water Temple quest chain. The region is temperate, requiring no special gear, and is rich in fish, aquatic enemy materials, and a surprisingly high density of Korok Seeds along its waterways.
Region Overview
The Lanayru Wetlands occupies the broad lowland basin east of Lanayru Road (East Gate) and west of the Lanayru Great Spring. Key water bodies include:
- Millstone Lake — central marsh lake, several Korok puzzles on islands
- Zora River — main river running north to Zora's Domain
- Wetland Stable area — the primary civilization point, sits on the western approach
Getting There
- Lanayru Wetlands Skyview Tower launches Link to a height where the entire marsh is visible (coordinates approximately 2192, 0066, 0119)
- Road from Kakariko Village — follow the main road east from Kakariko and then northeast
- Zora River upstream — follow any river north from East Necluda into the wetlands
Key Landmarks
Wetland Stable
The Wetland Stable is the main hub for the region, offering horse registration, cooking, a shop, and an inn. Several side quests and Stable Trotters musician content is connected here. It's also where one of the Great Fairy musicians (Beetz) may be found.
Ruto Lake and Mikau Lake
Two named lakes in the wetlands named after Zora champions from Ocarina of Time. Both have Korok puzzles, small fishing populations, and serve as landmarks for shrine navigation.
Luto's Crossing
A bridge crossing connecting the western approach to the Zora River path. Several Bokoblin camps occupy the banks nearby, and one Hinox sleeps in the shallows just east of the crossing.

Fishing and Materials
The Lanayru Wetlands is one of the best fishing locations in Hyrule:
- Hyrule Bass — abundant in all lakes and rivers
- Armored Carp — found in faster currents near Zora River
- Hearty Salmon — deeper lake pools (rare, but present)
- Bright-Eyed Crab — along banks and shallow edges
- Hydromelon — grows on vines near the water line
Korok Seed Highlights
The wetlands have an above-average Korok density along its river banks:
- Rock circles in shallow water (place missing rock)
- Acorn targets hanging from waterside trees
- Flower trails starting at lake edges
- Two-pinecone matching puzzles on river islands
Follow the Zora River north while scanning both banks and you can collect 8-12 seeds in a single pass.
Tips
- Bring Shock Resistance (Rubber Armor) for the Electric Lizalfos encounters — they are numerous on the approach to Zora's Domain
- The wetlands' flat terrain makes horseback exploration efficient — a good mount can cover the entire region quickly
- Fish before entering Zora's Domain — hearty salmon recipes provide useful bonus hearts for the Water Temple
- The Hinox in the shallows near Ruto Lake can be dealt with from the bank using arrows — no need to wade in
- Sidon's water-ability puzzle segments begin here if you're following the Zora questline
