Mini-Games Guide — All Activities & Rewards
Mini-Games Guide — Every Optional Activity in TotK
Tears of the Kingdom features a wide range of optional mini-games and activities scattered across Hyrule. From mounted archery at stables to sky-diving challenges above Sky Islands, these diversions reward rupees, equipment, and unique prizes unavailable anywhere else.
Mounted Archery Challenge
Location: Mounted Archery Camp — Faron Grasslands, south of Highland Stable Cost: 20 Rupees per attempt Reward: Gold Rupees and Archery equipment based on score
Score targets while riding a horse through a set course. Hit wooden targets while galloping at full speed. Higher scores earn better prizes.
Tips:
- Use a multi-shot bow (Lynel Bow or Triple-Shot Bow) for bonus hits per target
- Activate bullet-time (jump from horse back, draw bow in midair) for precision shots
- Aim slightly ahead of each target since horse movement adds arc to your shot trajectory
- The horse speed affects available time — a speed-3+ horse gives the best balance of pace and control
Score thresholds:
- 1,000+ points: 50 Rupees
- 2,000+ points: 100 Rupees + Arrows
- 4,000+ points: Gold Rupees + Bomb Flowers
Pony Points Rewards
Location: Any Stable across Hyrule Cost: Free — earned by registering and stabling horses Reward: Stable-exclusive gear
Each horse you register earns Pony Points. Accumulating enough points unlocks special stable rewards including unique bridles, saddles, and mount accessories. The best rewards require 10+ Pony Points.
Top rewards:
- Swift Carrot Set Bonus: Horse speed boost gear at 3 points
- Endura Set: Stamina-boosting saddle at 7 points
- Golden Bridle: Unique cosmetic at 10+ points
Diving Contest — Lake Totori
Location: Rito Village area, Lake Totori approach How to access: Speak to the NPC near the lake's highest point Reward: Arrows and Rupees
A timed diving challenge where Link must hit specific water targets while free-falling. The aerial precision test rewards players who have mastered the skydiving pose (hold ZL + forward to maximize horizontal distance).
Tips:
- Use the Glide Armor set bonus for better aerial maneuverability
- Aim for the outermost ring targets first — they're worth more points
- Don't open the paraglider too early — maintain free-fall speed until the last second
Zonai Build Challenges
Location: Various Zonai dispenser hubs across Sky Islands How to access: Interact with challenge pedestals near large build areas Reward: Large Zonai Charges, Construct materials
Build challenges ask Link to construct a Zonai device that meets specific criteria — travel distance, speed, altitude reached, or cargo transported. These are open-ended and reward creative building.
Tips:
- For distance challenges: the hoverbike (two fans + steering stick) almost always wins
- For altitude challenges: rockets stacked on a platform + Ascend beats standard builds
- For cargo challenges: a flat platform with Big Wheels is the most stable hauler
Gerudo Sand-Seal Racing
Location: Gerudo Town — Sand-Seal Rally area Cost: 50 Rupees per race Reward: Rupees, Desert Voe Armor pieces (first clear)
Ride a Sand-Seal pulled board through a desert race course. Steering requires pushing against the seal's natural pull direction. The timer is strict — use a fast Sand-Seal and take corner shortcuts through dune gaps.
Tips:
- Borrow (steal) a Sand-Seal from a Gerudo NPC before the race to get a faster one
- Lean into corners instead of fighting the seal's momentum
- The shortcut through the northwest dune cuts 8+ seconds from the full route
Eventide Island Challenge (Survival Mode)
Location: Eventide Island — East Sea, southeast coast of Hyrule How to access: Swim or fly to the island — all items are removed on arrival Reward: Unique reward item at the top of the island
Eventide Island strips Link of all gear on arrival. Survive using only what you find on the island, defeat the enemies, and claim the reward at the summit.
Tips:
- Bring meals cooked off-island — food is NOT removed when you arrive
- The island has weapons scattered in enemy camps — clear them in order
- A raft + fan from island materials creates a fast water crossing option
- Stealth approach the first camp for a free weapon advantage
Shooting Gallery — Kakariko Village
Location: Kakariko Village, near the inn area Cost: 20 Rupees Reward: Arrows, Bomb Flowers, Rupees
A stationary archery challenge where targets pop up at varying distances. Multi-target combos increase the score multiplier. Use the Hylian Hood's camera assist for distant targets.
Tips:
- Arrow type matters — Fire Arrows spread better for clustered targets
- The back-row targets are worth triple the front-row targets
- First clear rewards: Bomb Arrows ×20
Snowball Bowling — Hebra Region
Location: Hebra Mountains — near Snowfield Stable How to access: Roll snowballs at Bokoblin pins set up on the frozen slope Reward: Rupees + rare Ore
Use Ultrahand to grab and aim snowballs down the icy slope at Bokoblin-shaped targets. Strike angle determines spread. Rolling the snowball off a slight embankment creates natural curve.
Tips:
- Aim for the center pin with a direct shot — back-row pins fall on chain reaction
- A wider snowball (assemble two with Ultrahand before release) hits more pins
- Icy Wind food buff or snowquill armor prevents cold damage during the challenge
Archery Boat Challenge — Zora's Domain
Location: East Reservoir Lake, southeast of Zora's Domain How to access: Speak to Zora NPC near the floating archery range Reward: Zora Armor upgrade materials, Rupees
Shoot targets from a moving boat platform as it drifts across the lake. The platform sways, requiring slight leading of shots. Zora Armor's swimming boost doesn't apply here — it's pure archery.
Tips:
- Shock Arrows deal bonus damage and hit multiple clustered targets
- The golden ring target in the center is worth 500 points if hit from the farthest position
- Win three consecutive rounds for the bonus chest reward
Tarrey Town — Bolt-Tightening Contest
Location: Tarrey Town — Hudson Construction area How to access: After completing Tarrey Town quest chain Reward: Constructing materials, Luminous Stones
A Zonai-building contest where NPCs judge the structural integrity of your build. Score is based on how well your construction matches the shown blueprint. Ultrahand precision is tested.
Tips:
- Perfect angle matching earns maximum score — rotate each piece until the blue snap indicator appears
- The trickiest builds have offset anchor points — attach in segments rather than all at once
