Mount Lanayru Region Guide — Exploration, Naydra & Secrets in TotK
Overview
Mount Lanayru is the towering snow-capped peak at the far southeastern edge of Hyrule, rising above the Necluda region and serving as the home mountain of Naydra, the blue ice dragon. The mountain is cold throughout and requires strong cold resistance above mid-elevation. Despite its remote position, Mount Lanayru contains multiple shrines, a memorable sky-island cluster, Naydra's reliable flight path, and the iconic Starview Summit — one of the best star-gazing points in the game.
Getting There
- Rabella Wetlands Skyview Tower — launches toward the southeast; paraglide east toward the mountain
- Necluda road — follow the main road east-southeast from Hateno Village through the Necluda region
- Climbing from the base — the mountain has climbable approaches on the north and west faces
Cold resistance (Snowquill armor or cold-resist food) is required above approximately 500m elevation on the mountain.
Naydra — The Ice Dragon
Naydra is one of the three main elemental dragons (alongside Dinraal and Farosh). She circles Mount Lanayru on a consistent flight path that passes over the summit, the adjacent snowfield, and then loops back.
| Naydra Part | Loot | Use | |-------------|------|-----| | Scale | Naydra's Scale | Shrine offering, armor upgrades | | Claw | Naydra's Claw | High-tier cooking, armor | | Fang | Shard of Naydra's Fang | Weapon fusion | | Horn | Shard of Naydra's Horn | Weapon fusion (rare) |
How to farm Naydra: Ascend via sky island or tower, intercept Naydra's flight path, and shoot the glowing nodes on her body. Each node drops one material per Blood Moon cycle. The Naydra's Scale node is on her body surface; the Fang Shard requires hitting a specific facial node.
Key Landmarks
Lanayru Road East Gate
The formal entrance to the Mount Lanayru ascent. A shrine and stone gate mark the boundary where the cold begins intensifying. Several side quests and traveler NPCs are clustered at the gate.
Purifier Lake (Lanayru Spring)
A sacred lake on the mountain's mid-slope with crystal-clear water. The spring has lore significance as a place of purification in Hyrule's history, and a major side adventure quest is set here involving Naydra or water elementals.
Starview Summit
The actual peak of Mount Lanayru, accessible after a stamina-intensive final climb. The summit has a telescope and a Korok puzzle (pinwheel target). On clear nights, the view of the night sky here is among the most visually spectacular in TotK.
Ice Caves (East Face)
A cluster of ice caves on the mountain's east face contain Luminous Stone deposits, Chillshrooms, and Ice Keese nests. One cave has a Stalnox encounter inside.
Shrines
| Shrine | Approximate Coordinates | Notes | |--------|------------------------|-------| | Jikais Shrine | 3845, -1107, 0487 | Puzzle — Fire and Ice | | Sifumum Shrine | 3627, -0681, 0281 | Combat trial | | Naydra's sky shrine | ~3900, -0900, 0900 | Sky island above summit |
Enemies and Hazards
| Hazard | Notes | |--------|-------| | Cold damage | Snowquill armor (3 pieces) or cold-resist elixirs | | Ice Keese | Fire arrows, cave interiors | | Ice Lizalfos | Fire weapon fusions | | White-Maned Lynel | Summit adjacent — highest tier combat | | Stalnox (cave) | Shoot eye during collapse phase |
Materials and Resources
- Chillshroom — Mid-slope caves and shaded areas
- Luminous Stone — Ice cave ore deposits
- Sapphire — Frost Talus drops, ore nodes
- Cold Darner — Insect found in summit meadows
- Raw Prime Meat — Mountain goat variants
Tips
- Naydra's flight pattern repeats exactly — spend one full in-game day observing from the summit to memorize it
- Climbing the mountain during blizzard weather (nighttime) is significantly harder — attempt daytime ascents
- The Lanayru Promenade road on the south face is fully paved and walkable without climbing, making it the safest ascent path
- Pack Sundelion food if planning to access the Depths access point below the mountain's east base
- The sky island chain above the summit has excellent Zonaite deposits and a rare Treasure Chest with a strong bow
