Naydra — The Ice Dragon

Naydra is the Ice Dragon of Hyrule, circling the eastern sky over the Lanayru region. Along with Dinraal and Farosh, Naydra is one of the three Spirit Dragons that provide unique crafting materials for armor upgrades and the strongest weapon fusions in the game. Naydra's ice-element parts are particularly valuable for cold-resistance armor upgrades and high-power ice fusions.

Naydra Overview

| Attribute | Value | |-----------|-------| | Element | Ice | | Flight Path | Lanayru Wetlands → Mount Lanayru → East Necluda → loops | | Altitude | Mid-to-high (reachable from peaks and sky platforms) | | Respawn | Once per in-game day (or Blood Moon) | | Drops per visit | 1 part per body part hit |

Naydra's Flight Path

Naydra circles a consistent route in the eastern section of Hyrule:

  1. Zora's Domain area — frequently seen near the Zora's Domain throne room elevation
  2. Mount Lanayru — Naydra's primary high-altitude circuit; the peak at coordinates 3849, -1187, 0571 is the best intercept point
  3. Lanayru Wetlands — lower-altitude leg of the circuit, easier to intercept from ground level
  4. East Necluda coast — occasionally dips toward the coast before looping back

Best intercept location: The summit of Mount Lanayru (Jochi-iu Shrine area). Naydra passes close to the peak, allowing you to glide onto its back from the summit without a sky platform.

Time of day: Naydra's circuit takes approximately one full in-game day. It does not change its path by day or night — use the Purah Pad to spot it from high ground.

How to Harvest Dragon Parts

Getting on Naydra

  1. Reach height: Climb Mount Lanayru or use a sky island platform above Naydra's path
  2. Wait at the intercept point and watch Naydra approach
  3. Glide onto its back — aim for the large flat scale sections on its back or head

Which Body Part to Hit

Each body part drops a different material. Hit the specific part you need:

| Body Part | Drop | |-----------|------| | Scales (body/back) | Naydra's Scale | | Claws (feet) | Naydra's Claw | | Fang (mouth/teeth area) | Shard of Naydra's Fang | | Horn (head) | Shard of Naydra's Horn |

How to target: Once on Naydra's back, walk toward the glowing shard or body part you want. Shoot the shining point with a single arrow to dislodge the drop. Each part yields 1 drop per visit.

Ice body warning: Naydra's body generates cold — wear cold-resistant armor (Snowquill set or 2+ cold-resistance) to avoid constant temperature damage while on its back.

Naydra Parts and Their Uses

Naydra's Scale

| Use | Notes | |-----|-------| | Zora Armor upgrade (★★) | 3× Naydra's Scale required | | Snowquill Armor upgrade (★★) | 3× Naydra's Scale | | Fuse material | Adds ice damage + ~15 attack equivalent | | Cooking ingredient | Not recommended — no food effect |

Naydra's Claw

| Use | Notes | |-----|-------| | Zora Armor upgrade (★★★) | 2× Naydra's Claw | | Snowquill Armor upgrade (★★★) | 2× Naydra's Claw | | Fuse material | High attack power + ice elemental |

Shard of Naydra's Fang

| Use | Notes | |-----|-------| | Zora Armor upgrade (★★★★) | 1× Shard of Naydra's Fang | | Snowquill Armor upgrade (★★★★) | 1× Shard of Naydra's Fang | | Fuse material | Very high attack + strong ice effect |

Shard of Naydra's Horn

| Use | Notes | |-----|-------| | Top-tier fuse material | Best ice fuse in the game — adds ice element + 25+ attack equivalent | | Zora Helm upgrade (★★★★) | 1× Shard of Naydra's Horn | | High-value trade | Most sought Naydra material |

Efficient Naydra Farming

One Visit Per Day

You can only collect 1 part per body part per in-game day. To farm multiple parts efficiently:

  1. Hit 1 body part → collect drop
  2. Advance time by sitting at a campfire (skip to morning/night)
  3. Intercept Naydra again and hit a different body part
  4. Repeat for all 4 parts in ~4 in-game days

Each body part has a visual indicator (glowing spot) showing it's ready to be harvested. Once harvested, the glow disappears and doesn't return until the next day.

Blood Moon Farming

Blood Moons reset all dragon harvest timers. After a Blood Moon, all 4 Naydra body parts are immediately available again. If you need multiple of the same part, trigger Blood Moons and farm the same part each cycle.

Fastest farming method:

  1. Save at a campfire near Mount Lanayru
  2. Intercept Naydra and harvest the desired part
  3. Reload the save (or pass time to Blood Moon) and repeat

Multiple Dragon Parts Per Visit

You can collect multiple scales in one visit since Naydra has several scale-type glowing spots scattered across its body. Walk across the back and shoot each glowing scale individually before it despawns. However, claws, fang shards, and horn shards only have one drop point each.

Comparison with Other Dragons

| Dragon | Element | Unique Armor Upgrades | |--------|---------|----------------------| | Naydra | Ice | Zora Armor, Snowquill Armor | | Dinraal | Fire | Flamebreaker Armor, Fire-element upgrades | | Farosh | Lightning | Rubber Armor, shock-element upgrades | | Light Dragon | Light | Master Sword upgrade (unique) |

If you're upgrading both Zora Armor and Snowquill Armor to Level 4, you will need multiple visits to Naydra across several in-game days. Plan your upgrade path and farm the rarest part (Horn Shard) first.

Tips

  • Cold-resistance armor is mandatory on Naydra's body. 2 levels of cold resistance or the full Snowquill set prevents continuous damage. Don't try to farm Naydra without cold protection.
  • Bow only — no melee. Dragon parts can only be dislodged with arrows. A standard arrow to the glowing spot is sufficient; bomb arrows waste materials.
  • Mount Lanayru peak is the best launch point for reaching Naydra. The Jochi-iu Shrine at the summit provides a fast-travel point and a natural intercept elevation.
  • Farm Horn Shards first — they're the rarest and required for maximum-level armor upgrades. Scales and Claws are needed in higher quantities but are easier to re-farm.
  • Use the Purah Pad tracker. Once you've touched Naydra, it appears on your map. Use the tracker to find it quickly without scouting the full circuit.
