Bayge Shrine — Wind Current Construction

Location: Gerudo Highlands, northwest of Gerudo Town Coordinates: (-3534, -1768, 0412) Type: Puzzle Shrine Difficulty: Easy

Overview

Bayge Shrine sits high in the Gerudo Highlands, dramatically cooler than the scorching desert below. The shrine's puzzle theme revolves around wind currents and Zonai construction — Link must use Fans and Ultrahand to create airborne vehicles or platforms that ride wind columns upward. Unlike many Gerudo shrines that emphasize heat and ice survival, Bayge offers a refreshing engineering challenge that rewards players who have been experimenting with Zonai device combinations. The breezy highland setting makes this one of the more pleasant Gerudo shrines to tackle, providing a welcome break from the desert's thermal hazards.

Preparation

  • Zonai Fans — either carried from Zonai device dispensers or found inside the shrine itself
  • Basic Ultrahand proficiency — you'll be attaching fans to boards and platforms
  • Glide Tights or any armor with fall damage resistance helps if you drop from a fan-driven platform
  • A Glider Zonai device is optional but speeds up the process if you have extras from capsule dispensers
  • No temperature gear needed — the Gerudo Highlands are temperate at this elevation, unlike the scorching desert floor

Walkthrough

Step 1: Fan Platform Construction

Enter the shrine and locate the wide wooden board on the floor. Two Zonai Fans are mounted on the wall dispenser to the left. Use Ultrahand to attach both fans to the underside of the board, facing downward. This creates a basic hover platform — activate both fans simultaneously by striking them with a weapon, and the board rises into the wind column above. Center your weight on the platform before activating.

Step 2: Ride the Current

Stand on the fan-platform before activating the fans. When you strike both with a weapon, the platform lifts within 2 seconds. The natural wind current in the shrine's central shaft assists the ascent — you'll rise significantly higher than the fans alone would carry you in open air. Keep your balance on the platform by staying centered and avoid shifting your weight toward the edges.

Step 3: Mid-Level Platform Puzzle

At the mid-level landing, the wind column narrows and a stone barrier blocks direct ascent. Step off the fan platform onto the landing, then use Ultrahand to reposition the platform on the other side of the barrier — there's a gap in the barrier's right side just wide enough to thread the board through diagonally. Reassemble the fan configuration and ride again to the upper level.

Step 4: Upper Chamber Access

The upper chamber's entrance is a vertical shaft requiring precise fan placement. For this section, attach a single fan to the side of a lightweight stone cube found on the landing. The angled thrust carries the cube diagonally into the shaft opening. Ride the cube upward and step off at the top ledge without hesitation — timing the dismount is the main skill test of this step.

Step 5: Altar

The altar is directly ahead from the top ledge. Collect your Light of Blessing and check the nearby chest containing a Strong Construct Bow before using the shrine's exit portal.

Tips

  • Double-fan platforms rise faster but consume fan energy more quickly — single fan is more efficient for short vertical distances
  • The natural wind column in the shaft assists all Zonai lift devices — smaller fans work better here than in open air
  • If your platform tips and you fall, the drop from the mid-level is survivable with any amount of extra hearts
  • Attaching fans flat against a board (facing directly downward) provides the most stable lift configuration
  • Check the side alcoves on each level for optional chests with Zonaite upgrade materials

Nearby Points of Interest

  • Gerudo Town — 1.2km southeast, full services and cooking facilities
  • Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower — directly southwest, essential for map completion
  • Snowfield Stable — north of the Highlands, provides accommodation and shrine stamps
  • Gerudo Canyon Pass — route east toward Hyrule Field and Lookout Landing

Chest Summary

| # | Contents | Location | |---|----------|----------| | 1 | Strong Construct Bow | Near the altar at the top ledge. Check before exiting the shrine. |
