Bindoral Shrine — Combat Trial: Melee Basics

Location: Central Hyrule, west of Lookout Landing Coordinates: (-1842, 0312, 0024) Type: Combat Shrine Difficulty: Easy

Overview

Bindoral Shrine is an accessible combat trial designed to introduce or reinforce melee combat fundamentals against Shrine Constructs. Located in Central Hyrule near Lookout Landing, it's one of the first combat shrines most players encounter after the tutorial. The shrine uses a single arena divided into three encounter rooms, each teaching a distinct melee concept: basic attack timing, blocking and parrying, and the finishing flurry rush. For experienced players, Bindoral is a quick resource stop; for new players, it's an essential dojo.

Preparation

  • A one-handed weapon with 20+ attack — any Hyrule soldier's sword works
  • A shield — parrying is demonstrated in the second room
  • No temperature or exploration gear required
  • Full hearts for safety — the constructs here deal light damage but cumulative hits add up
  • Cooked meals for heart restoration during the approach through Central Hyrule's enemy camps

Walkthrough

Room 1: Basic Construct — Attack Timing

The first Construct uses a predictable two-hit combo: left swing followed by a forward stab. Dodge the stab (sidestep) to open the flurry rush window. Three flurry hit sequences defeat this Construct cleanly. Alternatively, block both hits and counter with a jump attack during the recovery frame. The Construct drops a Construct Sword and Zonai Charge on defeat.

Room 2: Shield Construct — Parry Mechanics

The second room introduces a Construct with a Construct Shield. It blocks all frontal melee attacks. The intended lesson: parry the Construct's attack rather than trying to break through the shield. Timing the shield raise just before the Construct's attack lands deflects the blow and staggers it for 1.5 seconds — your window to land 2-3 free strikes. Alternatively, circle to its back for standard attacks without engaging the shield.

Room 3: Aggressive Construct — Dodge and Flurry

The third Construct is faster than the first two and attacks in unpredictable sequences. This room teaches the Flurry Rush as the primary DPS tool: a perfect dodge (timed just before impact) triggers Flurry Rush, allowing a rapid sequence of attacks. The Construct's speed makes parrying harder and dodging more reliable. Land one Flurry Rush to observe the large damage output, then finish with standard attacks.

Step 4: Altar

All three rooms defeated opens the final gate to the altar. Collect your Light of Blessing. The chest near the altar contains a Royal Broadsword — a solid mid-game melee weapon.

Tips

  • Flurry Rush timing: dodge away or sideways just before the attack lands — "just before" is within 0.3 seconds of impact
  • Parrying the Shield Construct: the shield must be raised during the small orange flash just before their swing — too early or too late fails
  • All three rooms provide a Construct Sword from loot — Fuse the horns dropped to the sword for bonus damage on subsequent fights
  • Central Hyrule proximity makes this shrine easily revisited — run it regularly for Construct Horn drops after Blood Moon
  • Enemy behavior preview: the Constructs here are easier versions of those found in Hyrule Castle — good preparation
