Iyu Shrine
Iyu Shrine — Watercraft Navigation
Location: Lanayru Wetlands, east Hyrule Ability Required: Ultrahand Difficulty: Easy — water raft construction and navigation
Overview
Iyu Shrine is a water navigation puzzle set in Lanayru's wetlands. You'll build rafts from wooden boards and fans, then navigate them through a waterway to reach the altar platform. A gentle, exploratory shrine that teaches the basics of water-based Ultrahand builds.
Preparation
- No combat
- No special gear
- Takes 5–8 minutes
Walkthrough
Section 1 — Build a Raft
- Two large flat boards and two fans are near the shrine entrance.
- Use Ultrahand to attach the boards side by side (flat) — wider raft = more stable.
- Attach one fan to the back center of the raft.
- Stand on the raft — it floats on the water channel. Activate the fan to propel it forward.
Section 2 — Navigate the Channel
- The water channel curves left, then right. Steer the raft by using Ultrahand to grab the raft edge and tilt slightly, or by repositioning the fan to angle the thrust.
- Avoid the channel walls — bumping into them slows the raft significantly but doesn't sink it.
- Follow the channel to the junction.
Section 3 — Bridge vs Raft Choice
- At the junction, the channel splits. Left leads to a chest on a small island; right leads to the altar.
- Take the left path first — use the raft to cross to the chest island. Retrieve the chest contents.
- Return to the junction and take the right path to the altar platform.
Altar
Step off the raft onto the altar platform and collect your Light of Blessing.
Tips
- Two boards > one: The wider raft is far more stable. A single-board raft tips easily and you'll fall in the water. Always double up.
- Fan angling for steering: To turn the raft left, use Ultrahand to grab the left side of the raft and tilt it slightly — this pivots the fan thrust and turns the raft. Small adjustments suffice.
- Don't fall in: Falling in the water near the raft doesn't deal damage (no deep water in this shrine) — just swim back to the raft and climb on.
- Second fan for speed: If the raft feels too slow, use Ultrahand to attach the second fan alongside the first at the back — double fans nearly double the speed.
- Chest first: The left-fork chest contains a useful Lanayru weapon or Zora material. It's a quick detour worth taking before heading to the altar.
Chest Summary
| # | Contents | Location | |---|----------|----------| | 1 | Zora Spear | Left fork of the channel junction — on a small island. Take the raft left before heading right to the altar. |
