Jiukoum Shrine — Built for Rails

Location: Faron region, Lake Floria area Coordinates: (1856, -2812, 0024) Type: Puzzle Shrine Difficulty: Medium

Overview

Jiukoum Shrine is set in the lush Faron region — the jungle and waterfall zone south of Hyrule Field. The shrine's puzzles use buoyancy and water mechanics: wood floats and stone sinks, and players must leverage this to create rafts, elevate platforms, and navigate water-based chambers. The tropical Faron setting is complemented by the shrine's water-heavy interior, making it one of the most thematically cohesive shrines in the region. Players who complete the Sidon questline will find the water mechanics here familiar and intuitive.

Preparation

  • Zora Armor or waterbreathing food helps in case of falls into water channels
  • No temperature gear needed — Faron region is warm year-round
  • Basic Ultrahand proficiency — buoyancy puzzles require precise object placement
  • Standard combat gear for the Faron exterior — Lizalfos and Lizards inhabit the jungle
  • Swim proficiency is useful for recovering objects that fall into water

Walkthrough

Step 1: Wood vs. Stone Sorting

The first room demonstrates buoyancy: a stone block sinks in the water channel while a wooden block floats. The exit ledge is on the far side of the channel, slightly elevated. Place the wooden block in the water — it floats level with the exit ledge. Walk across the floating block to the far ledge. Stone sinks; don't use it as a bridge.

Step 2: Raft Construction

The second room has a wider water crossing and two wooden boards. Attach the boards side-by-side with Ultrahand to create a wider raft (more stability, less wobble). Place the raft in the water and board it. Use a Zonai Fan (mounted on the wall) to propel the raft forward — attach the fan to the raft's rear, pointing backward. Activate it and steer to the far platform.

Step 3: Buoyancy Lift

The third section has a submerged heavy object resting on a platform below the water surface. A door on the far wall is locked by a pressure plate on top of the submerged platform — the plate needs weight to activate. However, an air-filled wooden box can float up and hold the plate from above. Move the wooden box into the water above the submerged platform — it floats to the surface and rests on the platform edge, pressing the plate. Gate opens.

Step 4: Final Water Crossing

The last section is a wide channel with a current flowing away from the exit. Build a two-board raft and fan propulsion system as in Step 2. The current is too strong for a single fan — attach two fans if a second is available from the wall dispenser. Drive directly into the current toward the far ledge. If fans are unavailable, construct a wide enough raft that the current carries it in an arc toward the exit platform on the downstream side.

Step 5: Altar

The altar is on the elevated platform above the final water crossing. Collect your Light of Blessing. The chest nearby contains Opal — the gem associated with water energy, useful for Fuse applications in water-themed combat.

Tips

  • Wood floats, stone sinks — always check material type before constructing water crossings
  • Fan-propelled rafts work best with two fans at the rear for current-resistant propulsion
  • The wooden box in Step 3 floats to the surface automatically — just move it into the water above the plate
  • Zora Armor allows swimming up waterfalls — useful if you miss a platform and need to reclaim position
  • Faron region Lizalfos avoid water at night — the Faron approach is safer after dark if you're low on resources

Nearby Points of Interest

  • Lake Floria — the large lake east of the shrine, with Zora and aquatic encounters
  • Lakeside Stable — northwest, nearest rest and resupply location
  • Eventide Island — southeast over the Faron Sea, accessible from Lurelin Village
  • Lurelin Village — south coast, a fishing village with coastal quests and cooking

Chest Summary

| # | Contents | Location | |---|----------|----------| | 1 | Opal | Near the altar on the elevated platform after the final water crossing. |
