Kadipih Shrine — Gloom Navigation Trial

Location: The Depths, beneath Central Hyrule Coordinates: (-0412, -0388, -0502) Type: Puzzle Shrine Difficulty: Hard (approach) / Medium (interior)

Overview

Kadipih Shrine sits deep in the Central Depths — the lightless subterranean zone beneath Hyrule Field. Reaching it requires navigating Gloom-flooded corridors, avoiding Gloom-infused enemies, and maintaining light coverage with Brightbloom Seeds to see the path. The shrine itself tests Ultrahand spatial reasoning: large glowing panels must be rotated and positioned to channel light beams onto floor sensors, opening sealed gates. The Depths setting adds authentic difficulty — arriving with full health and a lit path is half the puzzle. The interior rewards patience: observe the light geometry, then place.

Preparation

  • Brightbloom Seeds (10+) — for illuminating the Depths approach; toss ahead of you to see the path
  • Sundelion meals (3+) — restore Gloom-damaged hearts; cook 5 Sundelions for a full-restore meal
  • Flameproof armor or cold resistance not needed — Central Depths is temperate
  • Gloom-resistant strategy: avoid Gloom puddles, defeat Gloom Hands with distance weapons
  • Full hearts — Gloom damage reduces maximum heart count until restored by Sundelion meals
  • Ultrahand proficiency — the interior puzzle uses multi-axis panel rotation

Depths Approach

The Central Depths beneath Hyrule Field is moderately navigable with light coverage. From the Hyrule Field Chasm (the main descent point), head south-southwest approximately 800m. Brightbloom Seeds on the floor every 30-40m create a visible corridor. Watch for:

  • Gloom Hands in isolated dark zones — sprint or fly over, do not engage unless necessary
  • Gloom puddles on the floor — stay on lit stone paths
  • Depth-Phantom enemies patrol the corridor to Kadipih — circle around or fight from range

The shrine marker (orange glow) is visible from ~200m once Brightblooms are seeded ahead.

Walkthrough

Step 1: Entry Chamber — Single Panel

The first room has one large rectangular light panel mounted on a pivot. A beam of light enters from the ceiling at a fixed angle. The sensor on the far wall is 20 degrees off from the beam's current path. Use Ultrahand to grab the panel and rotate it along its horizontal axis until the reflected beam hits the floor sensor. Gate opens.

Step 2: Two-Panel Redirect

The second room has two panels and a light source entering from the left wall. The sensor is on the opposite wall across a gap — the beam cannot reach directly. Place Panel A at 45 degrees to redirect the beam toward Panel B. Position Panel B to redirect the beam onto the sensor. Both panels must be precisely aligned — a misaligned panel breaks the chain. Rotate each panel slowly: the beam traces its path in real time as a visible line.

Step 3: Moving Sensor

The third room introduces a floor sensor mounted on a slow-moving platform — it traverses left-right on a track every 6 seconds. The challenge: position the panel to intercept the beam when the sensor is in a specific position in its cycle. Observe one full cycle. The sensor's center point (midpoint of its traversal) is the easiest target — set the panel to reflect the beam at the midpoint, then wait for the sensor to arrive. Gate opens and stays open.

Step 4: Three-Panel Chain

The final puzzle uses three panels and a beam entering from a high corner. The sensor is at floor level behind a pillar — the beam cannot reach it without three redirects. Stack the panels in a chain: first panel redirects down from high corner, second redirects horizontal, third redirects around the pillar's edge onto the sensor. Spacing matters — too wide and beam energy diffuses before hitting. Keep panel-to-panel distance under 5m.

Step 5: Altar

Through the final gate is Rauru's altar. Collect your Light of Blessing. The chest beside the altar contains Gloom-Resistant Elixir x2 — direct healing resource for the return trip through the Depths.

Tips

  • Beam path is always visible as a faint orange line — use it to diagnose panel alignment before committing
  • Rotating a panel too aggressively overshoots the target; make small angular adjustments in the final degrees
  • The moving sensor in Step 3 has a predictable cycle — count to 3 from its leftmost position to hit the midpoint
  • If a panel falls off its pivot, use Ultrahand to re-lift and re-center it on the mount
  • Gloom damage from the approach is recovered by Sundelion meals — cook before entering the chasm, not inside
  • Kadipih's Light of Blessing is identical in value to any surface shrine's — worth the Depths effort for Heart/Stamina upgrades

Nearby Points of Interest (Depths)

  • Hyrule Field Chasm — north, primary entry/exit point for Central Depths
  • Abandoned Central Mine — north, major Zonaite deposit and Forge Construct
  • Gloom's Origin — far south, the Depths' deepest level (late-game content)
  • Lightroot: Nisoij — east, activates Depths map sector and provides safe warp-out point
