Mogisari Shrine — Proving Grounds: Thunder

Overview

Mogisari Shrine is a Proving Grounds combat trial featuring multiple electric Constructs in an arena partially flooded with conductive water pools. The water is the primary hazard: any electric attack that hits the water spreads the charge to everything in the water — including Link. Managing where you fight and where enemies stand relative to water determines survival.

Preparation

  • Rubber armor or Shock Resistance elixirs (2–3 recommended)
  • Non-electric weapons (wood, stone fused preferable)
  • Ice arrows useful for freezing Constructs
  • No items carry into the arena — use what's provided inside
  • Takes 10–18 minutes first attempt

Walkthrough

Step 1: Arena Assessment

  1. The arena has 3 electric Constructs and is divided by water channels (6 pools, approximately 2m × 4m each).
  2. The Constructs begin patrol routes along the elevated dry platforms between the pools.
  3. Weapon cache near the entrance contains: wooden clubs (3), stone-fused spear (1), ice arrows (8). Take the ice arrows immediately.

Step 2: Eliminate First Construct — Isolation

  1. The patrol routes create brief windows where one Construct is isolated from the others.
  2. Watch for a Construct that crosses to the far dry platform alone. When it's isolated, engage immediately.
  3. Do not fight near water. Lead the Construct onto the widest dry platform (center-north of arena) before attacking.
  4. Ice arrows: 2 shots freeze the Construct for 3 seconds each. Use each freeze for a 3-hit melee combo. Four ice shots + combos = first Construct down.

Step 3: Second Construct — Draw Away from Water

  1. Two Constructs remain. They are now on adjacent platforms, close together.
  2. Bait with a thrown object (pick up any debris from the first fight) — throw it near one Construct to draw its attention without alerting the other.
  3. As it walks toward the bait, sprint onto the elevated north platform and engage it there. Repeat ice arrow → melee cycle.

Step 4: Final Construct — Electric Water Awareness

  1. Last Construct is alert and will use ranged electric shots. If any shot hits a water pool you're standing in or near — move immediately.
  2. Keep the Construct on your dry platform. Don't chase it if it retreats toward the water channels.
  3. Use remaining ice arrows. If out, wooden clubs deal full damage — non-conductive materials don't chain electric discharge.
  4. Construct down: altar door opens.

Tips

  • Shock Resistance is critical: Rubber armor or 2× Shock Resistance elixirs halve the arena's primary threat. First-timers without resistance will die fast in the third Construct fight.
  • Wood vs. metal weapons: Metal weapons in a water pool with electric discharge will chain the shock to Link. Wooden clubs (provided in cache) are your safe option. Stone-fused spear is marginally conductive — avoid water when using it.
  • Water pool edges: The edges of water pools (the dry rim) are safe. Only the water surface itself conducts. You can stand on the rim and fight at range.
  • Ice arrow conservation: You have 8 ice arrows for 3 Constructs. Optimal: 4 on Construct 1, 2 on Construct 2, 2 on Construct 3. Don't panic-fire.
  • Construct ranged attacks: Electric Constructs shoot homing electric orbs with a 1-second charge before firing. Dodge to the side during the charge animation.
  • Note — Sky variant: A different Mogisari Shrine exists at Sky islands (mogisari-sky-shrine). This Lanayru version is the Thunder Proving Grounds variant.
