Mogisari Shrine (Sky) — Balanced Weights

Location: Sky Islands, above Lanayru Sea / east coast Ability Required: Ultrahand Difficulty: Medium — balance and counterweight puzzle

Overview

Mogisari Shrine (Sky variant) is a balance puzzle — you manipulate weighted seesaws and scale platforms to create paths forward. You'll need to precisely position heavy stone blocks on seesaws to tilt platforms the correct direction and use the resulting angles as ramps or bridges.

Preparation

  • No combat
  • No special gear
  • Takes 8–12 minutes — one of the more thoughtful puzzle shrines

Walkthrough

Room 1 — Basic Seesaw

  1. A seesaw platform is in front of you, currently tilted to the left (heavy stone block on left end).
  2. Use Ultrahand to pick up the stone block and move it to the right end of the seesaw. The platform levels out or tilts right.
  3. Walk up the seesaw ramp to the upper platform while it's tilted toward you.

Room 2 — Two Seesaws

  1. Two seesaws in sequence, each with a block. The far platform is elevated.
  2. Position block 1 on the right end of seesaw 1 — it tilts right, creating a ramp up to a middle platform.
  3. From the middle platform, position block 2 on the left end of seesaw 2 — it tilts left, bridging toward the exit door.
  4. Cross both seesaws to reach the next room.

Room 3 — Hanging Scale

  1. The final room has a hanging scale (like a balance scale) suspended from the ceiling. Both sides are level.
  2. The altar is on the right side of the room, above a platform currently at the same height as the left side.
  3. Place a heavy stone block on the left pan of the scale — the right side rises, lifting the right platform higher.
  4. Climb to the now-elevated right platform and access the altar corridor.

Tips

  • Physics are consistent: In this shrine, heavy blocks always sink their side of the seesaw. There's no trickery — the heaviest object on a side always wins.
  • You can ride the seesaw: Standing on one end of a seesaw while a block is on the other end creates a stable ramp. You won't tip it back as long as the block outweighs you.
  • Block repositioning: If you set a block in the wrong spot, simply use Ultrahand to grab it again and move it — there's no penalty for trial and error.
  • Hanging scale room: Don't put two blocks on the same side of the hanging scale — it will drop too far and you won't be able to reach the platform. One block is exactly the right counterweight.
  • Optional chest: In Room 2, use Ultrahand to stack both blocks on one seesaw end to create an ultra-steep ramp — this lets you reach a chest on a high ledge above Room 2's entrance.
