Naborwak Shrine
Naborwak Shrine — Into the Ruins
Location: Akkala region, south of Akkala Citadel Coordinates: (3412, 1628, 0148) Type: Puzzle Shrine Difficulty: Medium
Overview
Naborwak Shrine is situated in the dramatic Akkala region — Hyrule's rugged northeast frontier where ancient fortifications meet volcanic terrain. The shrine uses electric and rain mechanics: water conducts electricity, and some puzzle solutions require deliberately getting things wet before applying shock. The interplay between water, metal, and electric Fuse creates a chain-reaction puzzle style where environmental preparation precedes the solution rather than the solution being direct. A fitting shrine for the Akkala region's unpredictable weather and ancient military engineering heritage.
Preparation
- Rubber Set or shock-resistance food — the shrine has electric hazards that can paralyze Link
- Shock Fruit or Yellow Chuchu Jelly arrows — the electric puzzle in room three requires electric projectiles
- A bow for ranged electric shots
- No temperature gear needed — Akkala region is temperate
- The Akkala exterior has Bokoblins and elite enemy camps — bring combat gear for the approach
Walkthrough
Step 1: Wet the Conductor
The first room has a metal plate in the floor connected to a gate locking mechanism. The plate's electrical contact switch won't activate when dry. A water pipe runs above — use Ultrahand to rotate the pipe's valve, causing water to pour onto the plate. Now the plate is wet and conducts electricity. A Shock Fruit arrow shot at the wet plate sends an electric pulse through the mechanism, opening the gate.
Step 2: Chain Lightning
The second room has three metal conductors arranged in a line — the first and last need to be simultaneously active (both charged) for the door to open. An electric charge from a Shock Fruit arrow hits conductor one; if the conductors are connected by water, the charge chains across all three. Use Ultrahand to position a metal beam between conductors one and two, and another between two and three, then pour water (from the nearby pipe) across both beams. Fire one Shock arrow at conductor one — the chain reaches conductor three simultaneously. Gate opens.
Step 3: Rubber Platform Crossing
The third room is filled with electric floor hazards — metal tiles that deliver constant shock. A rubber platform (dark material) is the only safe surface to walk on. Use Ultrahand to move the rubber platform across the electrified floor, keeping Link on it. The platform is large enough to stand on while manipulating it — guide it slowly across the shock tiles to the far side. Step off onto the stone ledge.
Step 4: Final Puzzle — Soaking the Switch
The final switch is dry and unresponsive. It's mounted high on the far wall above a rain-catching trough. Use Ultrahand to tilt the trough toward the switch — water collected in the trough flows onto the switch when the trough tips. Once the switch is wet, shoot a Shock arrow at it — the activation triggers and the final door opens.
Step 5: Altar
The altar is beyond the final door. Collect your Light of Blessing. The chest nearby contains Topaz — a gem used for electric Fuse applications and high-value selling.
Tips
- Rubber surfaces are immune to electric chains — use them as safe ground when navigating electric hazards
- Metal beams act as conductors when wet — position and then soak before sending the electric pulse
- The Rubber Set from Akkala area (found in shrines and caves) is strongly recommended for this shrine
- Shock Fruit arrows are the most reliable electric delivery — Yellow Chuchu Jelly has more area of effect if precision is difficult
- Akkala Citadel nearby has loot worth grabbing after completing this shrine — the Fierce Deity Armor set is there
Nearby Points of Interest
- Akkala Citadel — north, contains the Fierce Deity Armor set pieces
- Akkala Tech Lab — east, Robbie's research outpost with upgrade services
- Akkala Stable — south, nearest rest and cooking facilities
- Akkala Skyview Tower — northwest, essential for Akkala region map activation
