Sitsum Shrine
Sitsum Shrine — A Giving of Gifts
Location: Eldin Region, Death Mountain lower slopes near Goron City Type: Rauru's Blessing (no interior puzzle) Difficulty: Easy (interior) / Moderate (approach — requires Flame Guard) Coordinates: 1238, 2461, 0376 Reward: Light of Blessing
Overview
Sitsum Shrine is a Rauru's Blessing shrine near Goron City on Death Mountain's lower slopes — no interior puzzle, walk straight to the altar. The challenge is purely the approach: the shrine's location in the Eldin lava field zone requires Flame Guard protection before you can even reach it. Once you have Flamebreaker gear or a Fireproof Elixir, reaching and clearing Sitsum is straightforward, and it becomes a valuable fast travel anchor for all future Death Mountain exploration runs.
Reaching the Shrine
Route from Goron City (Recommended)
- Equip Flame Guard protection before leaving Goron City — see Preparation below
- From Goron City's main gate, head south along the main lava-side path
- Follow the path approximately 300 meters south — the path hugs the mountain's western face above the lower lava fields
- The shrine's orange glow is visible from the path once you round the first curve
- The approach requires no climbing or jumping — the path leads directly to the shrine entrance
Route from Death Mountain Skyview Tower
- Launch from the Skyview Tower and glide southwest
- The shrine's coordinates put it on the lower slope below the tower's elevation — angle downward toward the lava field terrace
- Land near the shrine entrance
- Equip Flame Guard before landing — the lava field ambient heat begins dealing fire damage as soon as you're at this elevation without protection
Lava Field Warning
The Sitsum area has lava pools adjacent to the path. Flame Guard (from Flamebreaker Armor or Fireproof Elixir) prevents fire damage from the heat haze and edge splash near these pools. It does not protect from direct lava contact — that is instant death regardless of equipment. Stay on the stone path.
Preparation
Mandatory — Flame Guard (at least Level 1):
| Option | How to Get | Duration/Notes | |--------|-----------|----------------| | Flamebreaker Armor (2 pieces) | Ripped and Shredded shop, Goron City (~1,800 Rupees each) | Permanent, no timer | | Fireproof Elixir | Cook: Smotherwing Butterfly × 1 + any monster part | ~4 minutes per elixir | | Flamebreaker top + Elixir | Combination gives Flame Guard 2 | Belt-and-suspenders for Lv2 zones |
Goron City shop location: Ripped and Shredded is at the top of Goron City's main shopping corridor — the vendor sells the Flamebreaker Helm, Chest, and Legs. Purchasing the Chest + Legs gives Flame Guard Level 1 (sufficient for the lower Death Mountain slopes where Sitsum sits).
Inside the Shrine — Rauru's Blessing
The shrine interior is a single short corridor ending at the altar chamber.
- Enter through the main shrine arch
- Walk straight — no gates, no puzzles, no enemies
- Check the right side of the entry corridor — a Treasure Chest sits on a stone ledge just inside the entrance
- Interact with Rauru's statue and collect your Light of Blessing
Chest Summary
| Chest | Location | Contents | |-------|----------|----------| | Entry corridor | Right side, just inside shrine entrance | Amber or Fire Arrow bundle |
Tips & Strategy
- Flamebreaker investment pays off: If you haven't bought Flamebreaker Armor yet, Sitsum Shrine is a good forcing function — you'll need it for Goron City questlines, the Fire Temple, and all Death Mountain content. Buy it before visiting Sitsum and it pays dividends for the entire Eldin arc.
- Eldin efficiency run: Sitsum is one of five Eldin surface shrines (along with Goma Asagh, Disisan, Magda, Kihshe, and Daqa). Equip Flamebreaker and clear all five in one continuous run — each shrine is fast-travel accessible afterward, saving repeated re-equipping.
- Fast travel value: Sitsum Shrine's fast travel point is on the lava field terrace below Goron City — between Goron City and the main Death Mountain approach. This is an ideal staging point for Lynel hunting, ore farming, and Fire Temple re-entry runs.
- Heat stacking tip: A Fireproof Elixir on top of Flamebreaker Armor stacks to Flame Guard Level 3, enabling safe traversal of Death Mountain's upper volcanic zones (normally inaccessible without it). Once you're in the area for Sitsum, consider pushing higher with this stacked protection.
- Fireproof Elixir source: Smotherwing Butterflies (yellow/orange butterflies near lava) are found along the Death Mountain approach path. Catch 3–4 on the way up and you have elixir materials for the whole run.
- No stamina required: Unlike sky shrine approaches, Sitsum's path is flat stone with no climbing. A single elixir + whatever armor you have is enough for a casual visit.
