Susuyai Shrine — A Spinning Device (Wheel Puzzle)

Location: Central Hyrule, northwest of Lookout Landing Coordinates: -0583, 0124, 0024 Abilities Required: Ultrahand Type: Zonai Device Shrine Difficulty: Easy

Overview

Susuyai Shrine is an introductory Zonai device construction shrine focused on the Wheel — one of the foundational Zonai devices that powers rolling and spinning movement. The puzzles require attaching Wheels to platforms and riding the resulting vehicles. This shrine is designed to teach wheel placement physics: wheel position determines whether a vehicle goes straight, turns, or spins in circles. Master these rules here and you'll build effective wheeled vehicles throughout the rest of the game.

Location Details

Susuyai Shrine sits in Central Hyrule close to Lookout Landing — one of the earliest shrines accessible to new players. From Lookout Landing, head northwest along the base of the plateau cliffs. The shrine's orange glow is visible from the road at night. A simple 3-minute walk from Lookout Landing makes this an ideal first-or-second shrine for early-game Heart Container acquisition.

Preparation

  • Ultrahand required
  • No combat — no armor or weapon preparation needed
  • This shrine is early-game accessible; no special upgrades required

Detailed Walkthrough

Room 1 — Basic Wheel Attachment

  1. Enter the first room. A flat stone platform sits on a rail track. A Zonai Wheel is nearby.
  2. Use Ultrahand to grab the Wheel.
  3. Attach the Wheel to the bottom-center of the stone platform. The wheel makes a distinct click sound when it snaps to the surface.
  4. For straight movement, the wheel must be centered beneath the platform. An off-center wheel causes the platform to arc or spin.
  5. With the wheel attached, drop the platform onto the rail track at the start position.
  6. Strike the Wheel once (sword, arrow, or any weapon contact) to activate it. The wheel begins spinning and propels the platform forward along the track.
  7. Jump onto the platform quickly after activation. Ride it to the far end of the track.
  8. Step off onto the far platform. The first gate is now open.

Room 2 — Two-Wheel Construction

  1. The second gap is wider than a single-wheel platform can cross efficiently.
  2. Two Wheels are available. A longer platform is also present.
  3. Attach one Wheel to each end of the long platform's underside — symmetrically placed (equidistant from center). Symmetrical wheel placement produces straight movement.
  4. Place the two-wheel platform on the wider track and activate both Wheels simultaneously (one strike on each, or use a sweeping weapon attack to hit both).
  5. The dual-wheel platform crosses the wider gap smoothly. Ride it across.

Final Chamber

The path from the second gap leads directly to the altar chamber. Walk through and interact with the Rauru statue to collect your Light of Blessing.

Chest Location

Susuyai Shrine contains a treasure chest on an elevated side platform in Room 1 — above and to the right of the starting area. To reach it:

  1. Build your wheel vehicle as normal and cross the first gap.
  2. Look back and up — the chest is on a raised ledge.
  3. Use Ascend through the ledge from below, or stack a block under the ledge and jump up.
  4. Common contents: a Zonai Wheel (useful for outside construction), Strong Zonai material, or a mid-tier weapon.

Tips

  • Wheel physics rule: A Wheel mounted center-bottom → straight movement. A Wheel mounted off-center → the vehicle turns toward the off-center side. Two symmetrical Wheels → straight movement. Two asymmetrical Wheels → curved arc movement.
  • Activation method: Any damage-dealing contact activates Zonai Wheels — sword strike, arrow, falling rock, even a bomb explosion. You don't need a specific interaction prompt.
  • Stability: If your platform tips or the wheel spins in place without moving the platform, the Wheel isn't making ground contact. Re-position the wheel so it touches the floor surface.
  • Time limit: Zonai Wheels have a battery timer. In this shrine, the timer is long enough to complete the track — in the overworld, equip more Zonai charges or build larger battery systems for extended vehicle operation.
  • Off-center experiment: Try intentionally placing the wheel off-center in Room 1 to see the circular movement effect — it helps build intuition for turning vehicles before you need that skill in overworld building.

Nearby Points of Interest

  • Lookout Landing — nearest settlement, 3 minutes south; Purah's Research Center, cooking pot, merchant, and Skyview Tower access
  • Hyrule Castle — visible to the north; the primary late-game destination and a major landmark throughout the game
  • Central Hyrule Stable (New Serenne) — west of Lookout Landing; horse board, inn, and Beedle's shop
  • Korok Forest fast-travel (if unlocked) — northeast via the Woodland Stable route
  • Lookout Landing well — underground entrance to a Depths section accessible from the center of Landing's well structure
