Timawak Shrine
Timawak Shrine — Lava Navigation
Location: Eldin, Death Mountain lower slopes Ability Required: Ultrahand Difficulty: Medium — lava crossing and heat-resistant platform puzzle
Overview
Timawak Shrine uses Death Mountain's lava mechanics. The shrine has active lava flows and lava pools — you must use stone platforms and heat-resistant surfaces to cross safely. Lava deals rapid damage without flame guard, so safe surfaces are critical.
Preparation
- Flamebreaker Armor (2+ pieces) required — lava proximity deals damage even with walls between you and the lava
- Inside shrine: elevated temperature — maintain flame guard throughout
- No combat
Walkthrough
Room 1 — Stone Platform Bridge
- A lava pool separates the entrance from the first chamber. Stone platform segments are available (stone doesn't melt in lava).
- Use Ultrahand to pull stone platforms from the wall and lay them across the lava pool as stepping stones.
- Hop across the stone steps — avoid any gaps or edges hanging over the lava.
Room 2 — Lava Rise and Fall
- The lava level in this room rises and falls on a cycle (~15 seconds up, 10 seconds down).
- Wait for the lava to recede (fully down cycle). Move across the exposed stone floor quickly.
- The second section: a platform on a chain can be lowered into the lava-safe zone — use Ultrahand to lower it during the low lava phase and cross it.
Room 3 — Lava River Crossing
- A lava river runs through the room. Stone blocks of different sizes float along a side ledge.
- Use Ultrahand to grab the largest stone block and place it in the lava river — it doesn't sink (stone withstands lava heat temporarily).
- Hop onto the stone block and ride it downstream to the far ledge, then step off.

Tips
- Stone only: Only stone/rock materials hold up over lava. Wood catches fire immediately. Metal conducts heat and burns. Use exclusively stone blocks for lava crossings.
- Lava cycle timing: In Room 2, count the seconds of the cycle. When lava begins rising, you have about 8 seconds before it reaches floor level. Use that time to cross the currently exposed section.
- Stone in lava river: The stone block in Room 3 doesn't float infinitely — it sinks slowly after 30 seconds in lava. Cross quickly or risk going into the lava.
- Flame guard maintenance: The shrine's elevated temperature deals 1 HP per second without Flame Guard 1. Keep armor equipped throughout — don't remove Flamebreaker inside.
- Chest in Room 2: During the lava-low phase, sprint to the far alcove in Room 2 — there's a chest in a nook that's only accessible during the lava-down cycle.
Chest Summary
| # | Contents | Location | |---|----------|----------| | 1 | Ruby | Room 2 — far alcove accessible only during the lava-down cycle. Sprint there during the low phase. |
