Yomizuk Shrine
Yomizuk Shrine — Rauru's Dawn
Location: Lanayru region Ability Required: Recall Difficulty: Medium — water wheel navigation using Recall
Overview
Yomizuk Shrine is a Recall puzzle built around a large water wheel. The wheel turns continuously in one direction, but you need it to carry you upward — the opposite direction. Recall reverses the wheel's motion, transforming it from an obstacle into an elevator. Timing your ride is the key challenge.
Preparation
- Recall required (Iji Shrine)
- No combat
- Swimming gear or heat resistance not needed
- Takes 8–10 minutes
Walkthrough
Step 1: Observe the Wheel
- The chamber contains a large wooden water wheel, about 3 stories tall, turning clockwise (downward on the right side).
- The altar is on a ledge above the wheel's top. To reach it, you need to ride the left side of the wheel upward.
- But the wheel turns downward on the left — you'd be carried down, not up.
Step 2: Apply Recall
- Stand at the water's edge and target the wheel with Recall.
- Activate Recall — the wheel reverses, now turning counterclockwise (upward on the left side).
- Quickly jump into the water and grab the left side of the wheel's lower edge.
- The reversed wheel carries you upward as it rotates.
Step 3: Ride and Dismount
- Hold onto the wheel's surface as it lifts you. At the top of the wheel's arc (roughly 3 stories up), you'll be level with the ledge.
- Jump off at the peak and glide/run onto the altar ledge. Timing is important — jump too early and you fall short; too late and the wheel carries you back down.
- Recall wears off after a few seconds — if you miss your jump window, swim back and reapply Recall.

Tips
- Recall targeting: Target the wheel itself (its wooden frame) rather than the water. The wheel is the moving object — Recall reverses the wheel, not the water current.
- Jump timing: The optimal jump point is when you're 30–45 degrees past the wheel's top (10–11 o'clock position). Too early (12 o'clock) and you overshoot the ledge backward.
- Recall duration: Recall lasts about 5 seconds on this wheel. That's enough for one full ride from bottom to top. If Recall expires mid-ride, the wheel resumes forward direction — jump or fall before it carries you into the water housing.
- Multiple attempts: Most players need 2–3 attempts to nail the jump timing. It's part of the puzzle's design. Don't be discouraged.
- Chest: On a small platform in the water at the base of the wheel chamber, accessible by swimming before applying Recall. Collect it first.
- Note — Faron variant: A different Yomizuk Shrine exists in Faron (yomizuk-faron-shrine) — that's a combat trial. This Lanayru version is entirely a Recall puzzle.
