Sky Shrine Guide — All 8 Shrines on the Sky Islands
Sky Shrine Guide — All 8 Sky Island Shrines
Eight shrines float among TotK's Sky Islands — the aerial layer above Hyrule's surface. These include Link's first shrines on the Great Sky Island (the tutorial area) and more advanced shrines scattered across the sky archipelagos. Reaching them requires creative use of Skyview Towers, Recall on falling rocks, and Zonai flying devices.
Preparation
- Stamina upgrades — sky exploration is stamina-intensive. Paragliding between islands drains the wheel fast. At least 1.5 stamina wheels recommended.
- Endura food — Endura Carrots or Endura Shroom dishes provide temporary extra stamina for long glides.
- Zonai Wing capsules — Wings launched from rails provide the best long-distance sky travel. Carry 5+ in your inventory.
- Cold resistance — some high-altitude sky islands are cold enough to require Level 1 cold protection.

Great Sky Island Shrines (Tutorial)
The first four shrines are on the Great Sky Island — the tutorial area where Link awakens after the Upheaval. Each shrine teaches one of Link's four core abilities:
- Ukouh Shrine — Teaches Ultrahand. Grab and move objects, attach them together. The shrine has a simple bridge-building puzzle.
- Nachoyah Shrine — Teaches Recall. Reverse an object's movement through time. Use Recall on a rotating gear platform to ride it upward.
- Nakuta Shrine — Teaches Ascend. Phase through solid ceilings above you. The shrine is accessed by ascending through a cave ceiling.
- Ga-ahisas Shrine — Teaches Fuse. Combine materials with weapons and shields. Fuse a boulder to a stick to break through cracked walls.
These four shrines are mandatory — you must complete them before leaving the Great Sky Island.
How to Reach Sky Island Shrines
From Skyview Towers
Launch from any Skyview Tower to reach the sky layer. From maximum altitude, paraglide toward visible sky islands. Look for green Zonai architecture and glowing shrine indicators.
From Falling Rocks
During certain quests and at specific map locations, large rocks periodically fall from the sky. Use Recall on a falling rock while standing on it — it reverses back upward, carrying you to the sky island it fell from.
With Zonai Vehicles
Build a flying vehicle: attach a Wing to a rail launcher (found on sky islands), add Fans for thrust, and steer with a Steering Stick. This is the most reliable method for reaching distant sky archipelagos.
From Other Sky Islands
Once on one sky island, you can often paraglide, build bridges, or use launchers to reach neighboring islands in the same archipelago.
Sky Island Navigation Tips
- Green beams of light from sky islands are visible from the surface. They mark Zonai structures worth investigating.
- Diving from high altitude is faster than paragliding. Press R to dive, then open the paraglider near your target altitude.
- Springs on sky islands launch you upward with great force — chain springs together to ascend through multi-layer island clusters.
- Construct enemies on sky islands drop Zonai materials and device capsules. Fight them for free building supplies.
- Rails on sky islands are designed for Wing launches. If you see a rail, use a Wing on it — it usually leads to the next island.
