About Riju

Riju is the fierce young Gerudo chief and Sage of Lightning, found in Gerudo Town managing the catastrophic Gibdo invasion. Still a teenager who took on the full weight of Gerudo leadership at a young age, Riju carries herself with hard-earned authority. Her arc involves learning to trust her own dormant Sage power — the lightning abilities of her ancestors — which Link helps her unlock through training in the desert. Her lightning field ability creates a crackling AoE zone; firing an arrow through it calls devastating lightning on everything inside. This is not just combat utility — it is the core mechanic for fighting Gibdos (undead mummy enemies who are devastated by lightning) and is essential throughout the entire Gerudo questline. Riju is also the one who pierces the sand shroud blocking the Lightning Temple approach using her power. Post-quest she resumes governing Gerudo Town and has unique dialogue about rebuilding relationships with the outside world.
