Lightning Storm Survival — Equipment and Timing

Strategy Details

Lightning storms are survivable without the Rubber Armor if you follow three rules. Rule 1 — Equipment: drop or unequip all metal weapons, bows, and shields the moment you see the sparkle effect around Link; sparks appear 3-5 seconds before a strike. Wooden bows, shields with wooden backing, and bone-fused weapons are all safe. Rule 2 — Positioning: move away from high ground, tall lone trees, and metal ore deposits during storms; all are secondary lightning attractors. Sheltering under cliff overhangs provides complete protection. Rule 3 — Timing: use a campfire to time-skip through the storm if you need to traverse exposed terrain; afternoon time skips often land post-storm. The Rubber Armor set (Shrine quest reward in Lanayru area) provides permanent lightning immunity once fully upgraded — the permanent solution.
