Akkala Depths Guide

The Akkala Depths lie beneath the Akkala region in northeast Hyrule — one of the most resource-rich Depths zones in Tears of the Kingdom. It features dense Zonaite deposits, multiple abandoned mining outposts, and a cluster of lightroots that create a well-lit corridor ideal for extended Depths exploration. The Akkala Depths also borders the Eldin Depths to the west, making it a natural extension route for marathon Depths runs.

Getting There

Sky Island approach: Dive from any Akkala sky island and aim southwest during freefall to land on the correct side of the chasm entrance above.

Akkala Depths has 6 lightroots. Each one activates surface map coverage for the area directly above it.

Tip: Akkala Depths lightroots are clustered close together — once you've found the first, the rest are visible from its illumination radius.

Mining Outposts

Akkala Depths has the highest ore density of any Depths region outside the Central Depths. Three major abandoned mining outposts contain:

• Multiple Zonaite ore deposits (12–20 per outpost)
• Chest with Crystallized Charges (usually 3–5 per chest)
• Construct Worker guards
• Captain Construct (at the largest outpost)

Farming route:

1. Warp to Akkala Depths Lightroot 2 (main mining outpost area)
2. Clear all ore deposits (20–30 Zonaite from this outpost alone)
3. Follow the lit corridor west to Lightroot 1 — another mining cluster
4. Continue south to Lightroot 4 for the third mining area
5. Warp out to surface and refine at Forge Construct

Per-run yield: 60–90 Zonaite, 10–15 Zonai Charges, 4–8 Crystallized Charges (from chests).

Notable Landmarks

Ancient Ruins

Akkala Depths contains remnants of an ancient Zonai settlement near the center of the region — large stone structures partially buried in the Gloom-soil. No shrine or major reward here, but the area is aesthetically striking and contains several ore deposits embedded in the ancient walls.

Flux Construct Encounter Zone

The western Akkala Depths (bordering Eldin Depths) has a Flux Construct II spawn point. Defeating it yields Construct Horns II and rare large Zonai Charge drops. The Flux Construct respawns after Blood Moon.

Gloom Pool Area

The southern portion of Akkala Depths has a large Gloom pool — avoid walking through it (use Tulin glide) as the Gloom here drains hearts faster than surface Gloom. The Depths Armor set significantly reduces Gloom drain here.

Poe Locations

Akkala Depths has a moderate Poe density. Key Poe clusters:

• Mining outpost corridors — Medium Poes (worth 5) cluster around the ore deposit areas
• Ancient ruins perimeter — Small Poe clusters (worth 1) along the outer walls
• Flux Construct arena — Large Poe (worth 20) visible after defeating the Flux Construct

Estimated per-run Poe yield: 50–80 Poes (worth 100–200 in trade).

Tips for Akkala Depths

• Bring 20+ Brightbloom Seeds — The Akkala Depths corridors between lightroots are very dark; throw Brightbloom ahead continuously
• Depths Armor reduces Gloom exposure — the southern pool areas require proper Depths gear or you'll drain multiple hearts per minute
• Enemy variety — Akkala Depths has Bokoblin Skeleton camps (immune to physical — use elemental attacks) in addition to Constructs. Carry fire arrows.
• Combine with surface Akkala run — after finishing Akkala Depths, warp to Akkala surface to farm Akkala Ancient Tech Lab materials and hit the Tarrey Town Trading Post
• Lightroot → Shrine pairing — each Akkala Depths lightroot directly mirrors an Akkala surface shrine. Use the lightroot activation to verify which shrines you still need above.
