Barbarian Armor Guide — The Best Attack Set in TotK

The Barbarian Armor set is TotK's dedicated attack power armor — 3 pieces hidden in 3 different labyrinths spread across Hyrule. Each labyrinth contains one piece. The full set gives Attack Up ×3 and the set bonus amplifies weapon damage significantly. This guide covers all three labyrinth locations and how to find the chests inside.

Why Get Barbarian Armor

Barbarian set stats:

  • Per piece: Attack Up (increases weapon damage output)
  • Full set at ★★: Attack Up ×3 — substantial damage increase
  • Set bonus (full set equipped): Charge Attack Stamina Up — charge attacks drain less stamina

In practice: Barbarian Armor is the go-to set for Lynel fights, miniboss encounters, and anywhere you want to maximize damage. Combined with a Silver Lynel Fused weapon, it's the highest single-target damage output in the game.

Upgrade priority: Get the full 3-piece set before upgrading. At ★★ (Lizalfos Horns + Lynel Horns required) the set bonus activates.

Labyrinth 1 — Northeast Labyrinth (Barbarian Helm)

Location: Northeast Akkala — far northeast corner of Hyrule

Getting There

  • Fast travel to the northernmost Akkala shrine or Tarrey Town → travel northeast
  • The labyrinth is at the very edge of the Akkala map — accessible on foot or by paragliding from a height east of Tarrey Town
  • Coordinates: Approximately (4000, 3200) — northeast corner

Navigating the Labyrinth

The labyrinth is a massive hedge/stone maze viewed from above. Navigation tips:

  • From above: Take a sky view from the labyrinth's edge or a nearby sky island — the path through is visible from height
  • Ground level: Follow the right-hand wall consistently (always turn right at every junction)
  • The chest is in the interior chamber at the center

Barbarian Helm Chest

At the labyrinth center — a large treasure chest containing the Barbarian Helm (head piece).

Shrine inside: A shrine at the labyrinth center also gives a fast travel point — activate it to return easily.

Labyrinth 2 — Northwest Labyrinth (Barbarian Armor)

Location: Northwest Hyrule — northwest of Eldin, in the Eldin/Akkala border area (north)

Getting There

  • From Eldin Skyview Tower: launch and paraglide northwest
  • Or: from Tarrey Town, travel north/northwest into the highlands
  • Coordinates: Approximately (-1000, 3500) — north-northwest of Death Mountain

Navigating the Labyrinth

Same general structure as the Northeast Labyrinth but different maze layout:

  • From height: visible from above — the path is traceable
  • The interior chamber is in the northwest section of the maze structure
  • Lizalfos enemies patrol some corridors — optional combat

Barbarian Armor Chest

Interior chamber chest: Barbarian Armor (chest piece).

Shrine: Also has a shrine at the center — fast travel point for future visits.

Labyrinth 3 — South Labyrinth (Barbarian Tights)

Location: South Hyrule — Necluda/Faron border area, southeast of Lake Hylia

Getting There

  • From Lake Hylia approach: travel southeast past the lake's south shore
  • Or: from Hateno direction, travel south and then west
  • Coordinates: Approximately (1600, -3200) — south-southeast area

Navigating the Labyrinth

The south labyrinth is in a warmer climate than the north two:

  • No temperature hazard — most accessible of the three
  • Bokoblin camps in the approach area
  • The maze interior has falling floor traps in some sections — move carefully

Barbarian Tights Chest

Interior chest: Barbarian Tights (leg piece).

Shrine: Third shrine of the three labyrinths — completing all three gives 3 fast travel points in remote areas.

Collecting All 3 — Efficient Route

If you're going for all 3 pieces in one session:

Recommended order:

  1. Northeast Labyrinth (Barbarian Helm) — start here since Akkala is easiest to reach after Tarrey Town is set up
  2. Northwest Labyrinth (Barbarian Armor) — travel west from Akkala
  3. South Labyrinth (Barbarian Tights) — travel south through Hyrule Field to Necluda

Total time: 90-120 minutes for all three depending on labyrinth navigation speed.

Upgrading Barbarian Armor

Upgrade materials (Great Fairy required):

| Level | Materials per piece | |-------|-------------------| | ★ | 3× Bokoblin Horn, 3× Chuchu Jelly | | ★★ | 3× Lizalfos Horn, 3× Yellow Chuchu Jelly | | ★★★ | 4× Lizalfos Talon, 4× Blue Lizalfos Horn | | ★★★★ | 4× Lynel Hoof, 4× Lynel Guts |

Set bonus unlocks at ★★ — prioritize getting all 3 pieces to ★★ before pushing to ★★★ or ★★★★.

Lynel Guts (★★★★): The hardest upgrade material. Requires fighting Lynels — Silver Lynels drop 2 Guts per fight. The Floating Colosseum (above Tabantha) is the best multi-Lynel farming location. See Lynel Guide for full Lynel farming strategy.

Barbarian Armor vs Other Combat Sets

| Set | Best For | |-----|----------| | Barbarian Armor ★★+ | Max damage output, Lynel farming, minibosses | | Fierce Deity Armor (Amiibo) | Similar attack bonus — alternative if available | | Ancient Hero's Aspect | Defense + stats — different playstyle | | Soldier's Armor | High base defense — survivability over damage |

Verdict: Barbarian is the best non-Amiibo attack set. For players who want to maximize damage numbers on tough enemies, it's the clear choice.

Quick Tips

  • Top-down navigation — every labyrinth is navigable by viewing the path from above (climb the outer wall + paraglide over to see the route). Takes 5 minutes instead of 30.
  • Shrine first, then chest — the shrine at each labyrinth center is a fast travel point. Activate it before grabbing the armor piece so you can return if needed.
  • Right-hand rule — if you're navigating ground-level without aerial view, always turn right at every junction. This method will eventually find the center of any simple maze.
  • South Labyrinth first — if you're coming from Central Hyrule, the South Labyrinth is the closest. Pick it up on the way south from Lake Hylia.
  • ★★ is the priority — don't farm ★★★★ upgrade materials before you have all 3 pieces upgraded to ★★. The set bonus matters more than individual piece defense.
