Enduring Food Guide — Extending Your Stamina with Yellow Wheels

Enduring food restores stamina AND adds temporary yellow stamina (extra wheels beyond your maximum). Yellow stamina empties before your regular stamina, giving you extended climbing sessions, longer paraglider flights, and more sprinting before needing to rest. This guide covers the best Endura ingredients and when to use them for exploration and boss fights.


What Enduring (Stamina Restore) Food Does

Enduring food has two properties:

  1. Stamina restore — refills current depleted stamina back to maximum
  2. Temporary yellow stamina — adds bonus wheels beyond your max stamina

Yellow stamina is consumed first, then your regular stamina. It does NOT regenerate on its own — once used, you need to eat again.

The math: With 2 base stamina wheels and a meal giving +2 yellow wheels, you effectively have 4 wheels for the duration of the yellow stamina supply.


Best Endura Ingredients

Foods (Cook into Enduring Meals)

Endura Shroom (Stamina +0.5 wheels per ingredient)

  • Mushroom found in: Forest areas — particularly the woodland south of Korok Forest, Akkala forested areas, and some highland caves
  • Where to find: The path north toward Korok Forest has dense Endura Shroom patches. Also near Woodland Stable.
  • 5 Endura Shrooms = +2.5 extra stamina wheels

Endura Carrot (Stamina +1.0 wheels per ingredient)

  • The most efficient stamina ingredient per slot
  • Where to find: Near Fairy Fountains. The fairy caves and their surrounding areas have Endura Carrots growing outside. Also found on Sky Islands near Skyview Tower entrances.
  • 5 Endura Carrots = +5 extra stamina wheels (maximum possible)
  • Rare but worth hoarding — extremely valuable for extended climbing sessions

Bright-Eyed Crab (Stamina +0.5 wheels)

  • Crab found in rivers and shorelines in Necluda and Akkala
  • Solid mid-range ingredient

Critters for Enduring Elixirs

Tireless Frog (Stamina +1.0 wheels)

  • The best stamina elixir critter — same efficiency as Endura Carrot
  • Where to find: Ponds and slow rivers — Lanayru, Akkala wetlands, some cave ponds
  • Combine with monster parts for long-duration stamina elixirs

Energetic Rhino Beetle (Stamina +0.5 wheels)

  • Found on trees in forested areas
  • Good bulk critter for stamina elixirs

Maximum Yellow Stamina (Climbing Marathon)

5x Endura Carrot

  • Yields: Full stamina restore + +5 extra stamina wheels — the absolute maximum
  • Enough to free-climb extremely tall cliffs, fly long paraglider distances, or swim across major water bodies
  • Reserve these for difficult Sky Island reaches, Death Mountain summit climbs, or the Master Sword pull

3x Endura Carrot + 2x Endura Shroom

  • Yields: Full restore + +3.5–4 extra wheels
  • Strong recipe when you can't spare 5 Endura Carrots

Standard Stamina Meal

5x Endura Shroom

  • Yields: Full restore + +2.5 extra wheels
  • Accessible and cost-effective for most situations
  • Covers normal Sky Island climbs and extended paraglider segments

Extended Duration (Dragon Part)

3x Endura Shroom + 1x Tireless Frog + 1x Moblin Horn

  • Note: mixing food and critters produces an elixir — this yields a Stamina Elixir, not a food
  • Use separate batches: food for hearty meals, elixir batch for stamina

Correct stamina elixir: 2x Tireless Frog + 3x Blue Moblin Horn

  • Yields: Enduring Elixir (~8:00+ duration), +1.5 extra wheels
  • Best stamina elixir — high duration, reasonable ingredient cost

Budget Enduring Meal

4x Endura Shroom + 1x Bright-Eyed Crab

  • Yields: Full restore + ~+2 extra wheels
  • Fully farmable without scarce ingredients

Key Use Cases for Enduring Food

1. Master Sword Pull

Pulling the Master Sword requires full stamina sustained for ~5 seconds while the sword drains your stamina rapidly. If your stamina runs out before the pull completes, you fail. Yellow stamina from Enduring food provides the extra buffer needed.

Recommended: 5x Endura Carrot meal before approaching the Light Dragon for the Master Sword. The +5 extra wheels gives a massive stamina buffer.

2. Sky Island Vertical Climbs

Sky Islands often require long vertical climbs from the surface. Enduring food extends how far you can climb without stopping to regenerate. Combined with Climbing Armor, many previously impossible-seeming cliff faces become accessible.

3. Long Paraglider Segments

Extended paraglider flights (crossing from one side of Hyrule to another, reaching distant sky islands) drain stamina. Yellow stamina extends glide time significantly.

4. Swimming Across Large Bodies of Water

Swimming drains stamina. Deep water areas without shortcut routes (crossing Necluda Sea, the area near Lurelin Village) become trivial with yellow stamina buffer.

5. Horseback Sprinting

Horse sprinting drains your mount's stamina but your personal stamina matters when dismounting mid-sprint or performing combat actions. Enduring food is useful for sustained mounted combat.


Endura Carrot Farming (Best Ingredient)

Endura Carrots are at Great Fairy Fountain locations:

  1. Kakariko Village Fairy Fountain: Carrots grow on the hill path leading to the fountain
  2. Tarrey Town Fairy Fountain: After building Tarrey Town, carrots grow near the fountain north of town
  3. Gerudo Canyon Fairy Fountain: Carrots near the fountain south of the canyon
  4. Woodland Fairy Fountain: Near the Woodland Stable, north of Hyrule Field

Additional source: Fairy Fountain entrances often have 2–5 Endura Carrots nearby. Checking all four fountain locations per Blood Moon cycle gives 20–30 carrots.

Sky Island sources: Some Starter Sky Islands and the Great Sky Island area have Endura Carrot patches. Worth collecting during Sky Island exploration.


Enduring vs. Energizing Food

Both restore stamina — the difference is temporary yellow stamina:
