Gerudo Secret Club Guide — Desert Voe Armor & Mystery Passage
Gerudo Secret Club — Hidden Desert Armor Shop
The Gerudo Secret Club is a hidden vendor in Gerudo Town that sells the Desert Voe armor set — the primary heat and electricity resistance gear for the Gerudo Desert and Lightning Temple. In Tears of the Kingdom, reaching the secret club requires solving a small social puzzle involving a password.
Where Is the Gerudo Secret Club?
The Gerudo Secret Club is located underground in Gerudo Town, accessible from a back room near the main bazaar. In TotK, Gerudo Town has been partially flooded by the Phantom Ganon crisis — the underground section is accessible via a manhole/ladder near the northwest corner of town.
Coordinates: Gerudo Town, northwest section — look for a wooden door at the bottom of a stairway with dim lighting.
Getting the Password
To enter the Gerudo Secret Club, you need the current password. The password is obtained by eavesdropping on a conversation between two Gerudo women near the inn.
Steps to get the password:
- Enter Gerudo Town (you need the vai disguise from Vilia on the road, or Sheikah Slate disguise depending on your progress)
- Head toward the Gerudo Inn (northeast area of town)
- Listen to the conversation near the inn doorway — two women discuss the secret club and mention the password
- Password: "GSC Diamond" (or the equivalent hint phrase they give you)
- Return to the wooden door in the northwest and say the password when prompted
Note: In some versions of the game, the conversation must be heard before the door becomes interactive. If the door doesn't respond, find and listen to the full conversation first.
What the Gerudo Secret Club Sells
| Item | Price | Effect | |------|-------|--------| | Desert Voe Headband | 450 Rupees | Heat Resistance 1 | | Desert Voe Spaulder | 550 Rupees | Heat Resistance 1, Electricity Resistance | | Desert Voe Trousers | 500 Rupees | Heat Resistance 1, Electricity Resistance |
Full set bonus: Heat Resistance + Electricity Resistance stacked — essential for the Gerudo Desert and Lightning Temple.
Total cost: 1,500 Rupees for the full set.
Why You Need Desert Voe Armor
The Gerudo Desert has two major environmental hazards:
- Extreme Heat (Daytime): Without heat resistance, you lose hearts continuously during the day. The Flamebreaker Armor (Goron-style) provides fire resistance but NOT heat resistance. Desert Voe provides proper heat protection.
- Lightning Storms: The desert and the Lightning Temple area have frequent electrical storms. The Desert Voe Spaulder and Trousers give electricity resistance, preventing instant knockdown from thunderstrikes.
2-piece Desert Voe bonus: Electricity Resistance 1 (prevents knockdown from electrical hazards) 3-piece Desert Voe bonus: Grants enhanced heat and electricity resistance together
Upgrading Desert Voe Armor
Desert Voe armor can be upgraded at Great Fairy Fountains (requires Malanya's full unlock for full upgrades):
| Upgrade Level | Materials | Defense | |--------------|-----------|---------| | ★ | Lizalfos Horn ×5, Amber ×5 | +3 per piece | | ★★ | Electric Lizalfos Horn ×5, Topaz ×5 | +5 per piece | | ★★★ | Electric Lizalfos Tail ×5, Topaz ×10 | +8 per piece | | ★★★★ | Silver Electric Lizalfos Horn ×5, Sapphire ×5 | +11 per piece |
Alternative Heat Resistance Sources
If you haven't reached Gerudo Town yet:
| Method | Effect | |--------|--------| | Spicy Elixir | Heat Resistance 1 — brief duration | | Chilly Elixir | Heat Resistance 1 (cools body vs heat) | | Frox Fang + bug | Frost elixir that counters heat | | Cooling headwear | Found at some merchants on the road to Gerudo |
Tip: Combine a Winterwing Butterfly or Summerwing Butterfly with any monster part in a cooking pot to create heat/cold resistance elixirs. These bridge the gap until you reach the Desert Voe shop.
Tips
- Bring 1,500+ Rupees before heading to Gerudo Town — the full set purchase is pricey early-game
- Desert Voe > Flamebreaker in the Gerudo Desert: Flamebreaker protects against lava and flame enemies but not the ambient desert heat
- The Thunder Helm (from completing the Riju quest) provides lightning immunity and is better than Desert Voe Spaulder for the Lightning Temple — but requires completing the Riju main questline first
- Electric Lizalfos spawn near Gerudo — farm them for upgrade materials while exploring the desert
