A Letter to Koyin

Receive the Letter from the Traveling Merchant

Near the entrance to Hateno Village, a traveling merchant named Celhan stops Link and asks a favor. He is carrying a letter addressed to Koyin at Hateno Pasture but cannot make the delivery himself due to urgent business elsewhere. Accept the letter and note the directions to the pasture on the outskirts of Hateno Village along the western fields.

Find Koyin at Hateno Pasture

Follow the path west from Hateno Village center toward the rolling green pastures where cows graze. Koyin is a dairy farmer tending her animals near the barn and large cheese-making vat. Speak with her and present the letter. She reads it carefully and becomes emotional — the letter contains news from family members she has not heard from since the Upheaval disrupted travel routes.

Help Koyin with Her Cheese-Making

Overjoyed by the letter, Koyin asks Link to help her with a batch of fresh Hateno Cheese as a thank-you. She needs Fresh Milk delivered to the cheese vat. If you do not have Fresh Milk, purchase it from the Hateno Village general store or obtain it by approaching the cows in the pasture. Bring the milk to Koyin and she demonstrates the cheese-making process.

Claim Your Reward

Koyin rewards Link with three wheels of Hateno Cheese — a valuable cooking ingredient that adds heart recovery when used in recipes — and 50 Rupees from her savings. She asks Link to pass along her gratitude to any travelers he meets. The quest also unlocks Koyin as a repeatable Fresh Milk and Hateno Cheese vendor at the pasture.
