Discover the Zonai Monolith

While exploring the Depths, locate the ancient Zonai monolith — a tall stone pillar covered in carved glyphs that glows faintly with residual Zonai energy. Its inscription is partially obscured by centuries of Gloom residue. Examine it to trigger the quest. A researcher at Lookout Landing can help decipher the carvings if you note them down or bring a rubbing.

Decipher the Ancient Text

Return to Lookout Landing and speak with Josha or a scholar at the Emergency Shelter who is studying Zonai ruins. Show them your notes. The inscription, once translated, describes a cache of Crystallized Charges sealed within a buried container directly beneath the monolith — protected by a proximity lock that only opens when someone stands on the correct floor tile pattern around the monolith base.

Solve the Floor Tile Puzzle

Return to the monolith and examine the floor around its base. There are several raised stone tiles arranged in a grid. Step on the tiles in the sequence described by the translated inscription — or use Ultrahand to shift the tiles into their correct configuration. When the final tile locks into place, a heavy stone panel in the ground beside the monolith slides aside, revealing the buried cache.

Claim the Crystallized Charges and Poes

Reach into the revealed cache to collect 5 Large Zonaite and 50 Poes. The Poes drift up from the depths of the container as pale blue wisps — carry them to the Bargainer Statue to trade for Depths armor upgrades or Bomb Flowers. The Large Zonaite fuels your Energy Cell expansion at the Crystal Refinery in Lookout Landing.
