Step-by-Step Walkthrough
1
Reach Korok Forest from Below
The Lost Woods on the surface are impassable due to Gloom corruption. Instead, descend into the Depths through the chasm at Minshi Woods (near coordinates 0131, 1063). In the Depths, navigate toward the Korok Forest Lightroot area. Look for the glowing tree roots leading upward — use Ascend beneath the Great Deku Tree's roots to emerge inside the corrupted Korok Forest.
2
Navigate the Gloom-Infected Forest
Korok Forest is covered in Gloom — the ground damages you on contact. Equip Gloom-resistant food (Sundelion-based dishes) and move carefully between safe patches. The Koroks are hiding and the Great Deku Tree is visibly suffering. Approach the Great Deku Tree's trunk where a dark portal has opened.
3
Defeat Phantom Ganon
Enter the dark portal inside the Great Deku Tree to face Phantom Ganon — a shadowy copy of Ganondorf wielding a gloom-infused spear and sword. Phantom Ganon teleports frequently, throws dark energy projectiles, and creates Gloom pools on the arena floor. Use Perfect Dodge and Flurry Rush to deal damage. The Master Sword deals bonus damage if you have it. After two health-bar phases, Phantom Ganon is defeated.
4
Restore the Great Deku Tree
With Phantom Ganon destroyed, the Gloom recedes from Korok Forest. The Great Deku Tree awakens and thanks Link. The Koroks return and Hestu appears, ready to expand your inventory in exchange for Korok Seeds. The forest is fully restored as a safe hub with shops and NPCs. The Great Deku Tree also provides hints about the Master Sword's location on the Light Dragon.
