About Naydra
The sapphire spirit of ice, Naydra is the blue dragon that haunts the frozen peaks of Mount Lanayru and the eastern coastline of Hyrule, radiating extreme cold from its body in a perpetual ice-crystal halo. Getting too close without cold resistance will freeze Link solid — a full freeze leaves him unable to act for several seconds, during which he will fall from cliff or take follow-up damage. Naydra is named after Nayru, the Goddess of Wisdom, and its demeanor is the most serene of the three elemental spirits, gliding through the morning air with a slow, contemplative grace rarely seen in the other dragons. Its scales are an iridescent blue-white, and ice crystals trail behind it like a frozen contrail that catches the dawn light over the Lanayru Sea. Naydra is widely considered the hardest of the three elemental dragons to farm consistently due to the extreme altitude requirements, mandatory cold resistance gear, and complex terrain of Mount Lanayru and the eastern coastline. The Zora people revere Naydra as a divine presence connected to the Lanayru springs — ancient Zora scripture found in Zora Domain calls it "the serpent that purifies the waters" and associates it with Nayru's divine mercy. In Breath of the Wild, Naydra was corrupted by Calamity Ganon and had to be cleansed with Stasis shots at the peak of Mount Lanayru. In TotK, it has been free of corruption for 100+ years and flies its natural circuit undisturbed. Its ice crystals shed as it flies are sometimes harvested by Zora children in the early morning mists, though approaching the dragon itself requires a seasoned adventurer with full cold-resistance gear. The horn tip delivers a 30-minute cooking buff duration extension — the maximum possible — making every difficult Naydra farming attempt fully worthwhile for endgame progression.
Flight Path & Schedule
Dragon Path
Naydra emerges from the Depths chasm near the base of Mount Lanayru in the early morning, rising steeply through cold fog and climbing over the peak of Mount Lanayru itself — the highest point on its entire circuit at roughly 1,100 meters above sea level. It sweeps west along the Lanayru Bay coastline toward Zora's Domain, dipping low enough over the water that it's visible from the Throne Room bridge if you know where to look. The dragon continues northwest, passing over the Lanayru Wetlands at moderate altitude before curving south past Kakariko Village and the Necluda highlands. From Kakariko it turns east, crossing the Dueling Peaks canyon at relatively low altitude — the Dueling Peaks themselves are a reliable intercept point since the dragon threads between the twin summits. It then loops back east across the Necluda Sea coastline and returns to Mount Lanayru for another cycle. In the Depths, it follows a mirrored underground path through the Lanayru Depths region, where its shed ice crystals illuminate the underground passages with a ghostly blue glow that can be spotted from hundreds of meters away. The Dueling Peaks crossing is the most accessible part of Naydra's route — it occurs in the afternoon, requires no cold resistance gear, and can be intercepted from the peak summits or the East Necluda Skyview Tower without any Zonai devices. The dawn emergence from Mount Lanayru is the most dramatic but technically demanding intercept, requiring level 2 cold resistance and precise Skyview Tower timing.
Spawn Schedule
Emerges near the base of Mount Lanayru around 05:00 (dawn). Best intercepted between 05:00 and 09:00. The Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower offers a direct launch into Naydra's ascent path — launch at 05:30 and you will intercept the dragon while it climbs from the chasm, giving a clean forward-facing shot angle. From 09:00 to 12:00, Naydra is crossing Lanayru Bay and can be intercepted from the cliffs east of Zora's Domain — no cold resistance required in this zone. From 10:00 to 11:00, Naydra passes directly overhead of Zora's Domain, visible from the King Dorephan statue overlook. Around 12:00–15:00 it crosses the Lanayru Wetlands — visible from Wetland Stable. From 15:00 to 17:00 it approaches Kakariko Village overhead. From 17:00 to 19:00, Naydra crosses the Dueling Peaks canyon — the most accessible cold-free intercept window. After 19:00, Naydra heads east toward Mount Lanayru and descends underground near 22:00–23:00. CAMPFIRE TRICK: Set a campfire on the Mount Lanayru summit platform and sleep until 05:00 — Naydra emerges from the chasm almost directly below for a point-blank guaranteed shot.

Naydra Parts — Complete Drop Table
| Part Name | Where to Hit | Fusion Effect | Cooking Effect | Sell Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Shard of Naydra's Horn | Tip of either horn on the head — the very point of the ice-blue horn, not the base or mid-horn. The horn tip glows a distinct icy white-blue and shows an ice-crystal burst when struck correctly. Hitting the mid-horn or base registers as a scale drop. The dawn emergence from Mount Lanayru is the ideal window: Naydra's head is angled upward as it climbs, exposing the horn tip at a clean angle from directly in front. | +26 attack power when fused to a weapon. Adds ice damage that can freeze enemies on hit. Frozen enemies shatter for massive bonus damage with a follow-up strike — against a frozen Lizalfos, a fully charged two-hander hits for nearly triple normal damage. One of the top-tier weapon fusions in the game alongside Dinraal and Farosh horn shards. Pairs especially well with long-range bows for freeze-at-a-distance tactics and two-handed weapons for the freeze-shatter combo. | Adds 30:00 duration to any elixir or meal buff. The maximum possible duration extension from a single ingredient. Priority farming target for any player who needs long-duration buffs for boss fights, Gloom-heavy Depths exploration, or extended hot-climate traversal. Combine with three Sunshrooms for a 30+ minute Cold Resistance meal that lasts through an entire Hebra exploration session. | 300 Rupees |
| Naydra's Fang | Mouth and jaw area — aim for the open mouth interior or the sides of the jaw near the visible teeth. The fang zone shows a blue-white ice spark effect when struck correctly. The mouth opens widest when Naydra is banking or climbing steeply. Target the jaw from the front during the Mount Lanayru ascent for the clearest angle. | +20 attack power when fused. Adds ice damage and can freeze enemies on contact. The freeze effect is especially powerful in enclosed spaces where frozen enemies cannot retreat. Required for Great Fairy armor upgrades at tier 3 on cold-resistance sets. Pairs well with spears for ranged freeze tactics against groups. | Adds 10:30 duration to any elixir or meal buff. | 250 Rupees |
| Naydra's Claw | Front or rear claws and feet — aim for the blue-white talons on the underside when Naydra passes overhead. Easiest to hit at the Dueling Peaks crossing where Naydra flies relatively low. Climb to the Dueling Peaks summits and shoot downward at the claws as the dragon threads below. The claw hit shows a distinctive ice-blue spark burst. | +18 attack power when fused. Adds ice element. Good early-game ice weapon upgrade when Naydra Fangs are scarce. Required for tier 2 upgrades on the Snowquill Armor set (Snowquill Headdress, Tunic, and Trousers) at Great Fairy Kaysa in Rito Village. Saved claws accelerate Snowquill set upgrades significantly. | Adds 3:30 duration to any elixir or meal buff. | 180 Rupees |
| Naydra's Scale | Main body and torso — the large flat blue-white flank sections along the mid-body, the largest target zone on Naydra. Target the broad flanks when Naydra glides past at close range. A scale hit shows a dull blue-white shimmer effect rather than the bright sparks of a claw or fang hit. The torso is the best default target for bulk farming sessions where you just need duration ingredients for cooking. | +12 attack power when fused. Adds minor ice damage. Best used for cooking duration bonuses rather than weapon fusion. Required in the highest quantities for Great Fairy armor upgrades — tier 1 and 2 upgrades on Snowquill Armor use scales. Also required for Frostbite Shirt and Trousers from the Depths at higher upgrade tiers. | Adds 1:30 duration to any elixir or meal buff. | 150 Rupees |
| Naydra's Spike | Back spines and dorsal ridge — the row of prominent blue-white ice spines running from neck to tail. The dorsal ridge is visible from directly above or from the sides at close range. Spikes are medium-sized targets — easier than the horn tip but harder than the broad torso. Best targeted from above when riding Naydra or gliding from Mount Lanayru peak directly onto the dragon's back. | +14 attack power when fused. Adds ice element. Good mid-game ice fusion for spears and one-handers. Required for tier 3 upgrades on the Snowquill Armor body piece at Great Fairy Kaysa. | Restores extra hearts when cooked into a meal. Unlike other Naydra parts that extend buff duration, Spikes add a heart recovery bonus. Combine with Hearty Lizards, Hearty Radishes, or Big Hearty Radishes for a powerful full-heal meal with bonus yellow hearts. Four Naydra Spikes + a Big Hearty Radish creates a meal that restores full hearts plus 4 bonus yellow hearts — ideal before boss fights. | 100 Rupees |
How to Farm Naydra
1
COLD RESISTANCE IS MANDATORY FOR MOUNT LANAYRU: Mount Lanayru is a level 2 cold zone. Without adequate cold resistance you will freeze solid and fall off the mountain cliffs. Equip the full Snowquill Armor set (purchased from Rito Village shop for approximately 2,150 rupees total) for level 2 cold resistance, or cook three Spicy Peppers + raw meat for a cold-resist meal.
2
BEST INTERCEPT — MOUNT LANAYRU SKYVIEW TOWER AT DAWN: Launch from the tower at 05:30 and Naydra will be ascending from the chasm below. Angle your glide toward it and enter bullet time immediately for a clean forward horn shot from above. This is the most efficient single Naydra farming window.
3
DUELING PEAKS — NO COLD GEAR REQUIRED: Between 17:00 and 19:00, Naydra threads through the Dueling Peaks canyon at relatively low altitude — often below the peak elevation itself. Climb to either Dueling Peaks summit or launch from the East Necluda Skyview Tower for an easy intercept that requires zero cold resistance and no specialty gear.
4
ICE ARROWS ARE COMPLETELY USELESS: Naydra is immune to ice damage. Use standard arrows only. Fire arrows work but waste valuable flame ammo. Shock arrows function and stun-spark the dragon but are better conserved for combat.
5
BULLET TIME IS ESSENTIAL: The combination of high altitude, freezing conditions, and Naydra's steady glide makes bullet time (ZR aim while airborne) the only reliable method for precision part targeting. This is especially critical for horn tip shots where a miss means waiting a full cycle.
6
ALTITUDE CHALLENGE AT MOUNT LANAYRU: Naydra flies at 500–800 meters near its peak. For non-Skyview intercepts in this zone, you need either a Zonai rocket, a large Zonai balloon build elevated by a hot air vent, or direct ascent via the mountain cliffs. The Skyview Tower is by far the easiest solution.
7
ZORA DOMAIN NO-COLD-GEAR WINDOW: Between 10:00 and 11:00, Naydra flies directly over Zora's Domain at moderate altitude. Climb to the King Dorephan statue overlook or the high waterfalls near the Domain entrance for a shot that requires no cold resistance whatsoever — the most accessible farming window for underprepared players.
8
DEPTHS ALTERNATIVE — LOWER CEILING MAKES CONTACT EASIER: The Depths version of Naydra in the Lanayru Depths flies closer to the underground floor due to the lower ceiling. Parts that fall land on the Depths floor for easy retrieval. Bring Brightbloom Seeds for navigation — the ice crystal glow from Naydra itself also illuminates nearby terrain.
9
CAMPFIRE TRICK ON THE SUMMIT: Place or find a campfire on the Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower summit platform. Sleep until 05:00 — Naydra will emerge almost directly beneath you for a point-blank intercept. This eliminates travel time completely and gives one of the widest shot-angle windows of any dragon spawn point in the game.
10
RIDING NAYDRA FOR HORN FARMING: Land on Naydra's mid-back by gliding from the Mount Lanayru cliffs above its flight path. Once on the back, walk toward the head and shoot the horn tip from a meter away — no precision aiming required. The close-range shot from the back is the most reliable horn farming method for players who struggle with long-range bullet-time aim.
11
UPGRADE PRIORITY GUIDE: Farm Scales first (torso shots, easy bulk), then Claws (underside shots during Dueling Peaks crossing), then Spikes (dorsal ridge shots), then Fangs (jaw shots), and finally Horn Shards (horn tip shots — most technically demanding). The armor sets that need Naydra parts in order of upgrade tier: Snowquill set scales (tier 1), Snowquill claws (tier 2), Snowquill spikes (tier 3), then Frostbite set for high-tier Depths armor upgrades.
12
ZORA DOMAIN SCENIC BONUS: Naydra flying directly overhead of Zora's Domain creates one of TotK's most spectacular sights — the blue dragon framed against the Domain's glowing waterfalls. After a farming session, wait on the Domain bridge between 10:00–11:00 just to watch it pass — the visual reward is worth it.
Riding Naydra
Riding Naydra's back grants complete temporary cold immunity — the freezing aura that would otherwise freeze Link solid is fully negated while physically on the dragon. This is incredibly useful for exploring the frozen peaks of Mount Lanayru or the frigid Hebra highlands without cold-resistance food or Snowquill gear. To safely mount Naydra: glide onto the mid-back from above while the dragon is at its highest point over Mount Lanayru, timing a dive from the Skyview Tower so you land on the spine. Walk slowly along the spine toward the head for a close-range horn shot. The ice crystals orbiting the dragon will not harm you once you are on its back. Riding Naydra near Zora's Domain is particularly scenic — the dragon's body framed against the Domain's glowing waterfalls and the Lanayru Sea below is one of TotK's most striking visual moments and well worth experiencing even outside of a farming session.
