Hyrule Regions FAQ
How many regions are in Tears of the Kingdom?
Hyrule is divided into roughly 12 major Surface regions, plus the Sky Islands above and The Depths below. The Surface regions include Central Hyrule, Akkala, Eldin, Lanayru, Necluda, Faron, Gerudo, Hebra, Tabantha, Great Hyrule Forest, and the Hyrule Ridge areas.
What are the main regions in Tears of the Kingdom?
The main regions are Central Hyrule (Lookout Landing, Hyrule Castle), Eldin (Death Mountain, Goron City), Lanayru (Zora's Domain, wetlands), Gerudo (desert and highlands), Hebra (snow mountains), Faron (tropical jungle), Akkala (rugged northeast), Necluda (Hateno Village), and the Great Hyrule Forest (Korok Forest, Lost Woods). Each has unique climate, enemies, and resources.
How do you reach the Sky Islands in TotK?
You can reach Sky Islands by launching from any activated Skyview Tower, which sends Link high into the air. From there, glide toward nearby islands. You can also use Recall on fallen debris to ride it back up, build Zonai flying machines with fans and wings, or use the Ascend ability on certain floating rocks. The Great Sky Island at the start of the game is reached automatically during the tutorial.
How do you enter The Depths in Tears of the Kingdom?
The Depths are accessed through Chasms — large glowing holes found across the Surface of Hyrule. Simply jump or glide into a Chasm to fall into The Depths. The first Chasm you encounter is at Lookout Landing during the main quest. There are over 40 Chasms scattered across Hyrule, and each one drops you into a different part of The Depths. Bring plenty of Brightbloom Seeds — it is pitch dark down there.
What is the most dangerous region in Tears of the Kingdom?
The Depths is the most dangerous area overall, filled with Gloom-covered enemies that permanently reduce your max hearts until cured. On the Surface, Hebra Mountains and Gerudo Highlands are punishing due to extreme cold and powerful enemies like Frost Gleeoks and Lynels. Eldin (Death Mountain) is also hazardous because of extreme heat that requires Flamebreaker armor to survive.
