Best Weapons Guide — Tears of the Kingdom
Best Weapons Guide
Weapons in Tears of the Kingdom are disposable — everything eventually breaks. But Fuse transforms disposable weapons into powerhouses. This guide covers the best base weapons to find, the best Fuse materials to use, and how to sustain a strong weapon loadout.
How Weapons Work in TotK
All weapons have a base attack power and a durability rating (not displayed as a number — they flash red when near breaking). The Fuse ability adds bonus Fuse Attack Power on top.
Total damage = Base Attack + Fuse Attack
A weak starting stick (base 1) + Silver Lynel Saber Horn (Fuse +55) = 56 total attack, outperforming most endgame unfused weapons.
Key rules:
- Fused materials stay with the weapon until it breaks — then both are lost
- Monster Horn/Fang/Claw materials add flat damage
- Elemental materials (gems, Dragon Parts) add element type
- Dragon Parts are the exception — they survive weapon breaks when fused to the Master Sword (unbreakable)
Best One-Handed Swords
1. Master Sword (Unbreakable)
Base Attack: 30 | Recharge: 10 minutes Location: Pulled from the Light Dragon's head (requires Dragon's Tears questline) Why it's the best: The only unbreakable weapon in the game. When energy depletes, it recharges. When Fused with a Dragon Fang, the elemental bonus is permanent — it never breaks off.
Best Fuse: Zelda's Fang (Light Dragon) — adds light element + 26 attack = 56 total, permanent fuse.
2. Royal Broadsword
Base Attack: 36 Location: In treasure chests throughout Hyrule Castle, dropped by higher-tier Moblins Why use it: High base attack for a one-handed sword, widely available. Good candidate for Fuse experimentation.
Best Fuse: Silver Lynel Saber Horn (+55) → total 91 attack. Highest one-hand DPS outside Master Sword.
3. Eightfold Blade
Base Attack: 30 Location: Sold at the Gerudo Town secret shop; found in chest near Korok Forest area Why use it: 7-hit attack combo — more hits per swing equals more Fuse material damage per cycle. With a powerful Fuse material, this delivers exceptional DPS.
Best Two-Handed Weapons
1. Royal Claymore
Base Attack: 52 Location: Hyrule Castle treasure chests; Colosseum Ruins Why use it: Highest base attack of commonly found two-handers. Excellent for charged spin attacks.
Best Fuse: Dinraal's Horn (+26, fire) or Silver Lynel Mace Horn → 78–86 total attack.
2. Biggoron's Sword
Base Attack: 50 Location: Rewarded by completing the "Recital at Warbler's Nest" side quest (Rito Village) Why use it: Reliable high-base two-hander with a nostalgic callback to Ocarina of Time. No special properties but solid raw damage.
3. Cobble Crusher
Base Attack: 20 (low — but breaks rocks and ore) Location: Commonly sold by Goron vendors; found near Goron City Why use it: Rock/ore damage bonus makes it the best mining tool. Breaking ore deposits in The Depths for Zonaite is dramatically faster. Don't use it for combat.
Best Spears / Polearms
1. Lightscale Trident
Base Attack: 22 Location: Given by Sidon after completing the Water Temple; can be reforged by Dento in Zora's Domain if broken Why use it: The only weapon that can be repaired in TotK (by a specific NPC). High attack for a spear, extended reach advantage.
Best Fuse: Naydra's Fang (ice, +26) → 48 total attack. Appropriate elemental synergy.
2. Spiked Iron Ball Spear (Fused)
Any spear + Boulder Breaker or Ball → effective mining + combat option for multi-purpose use.
Best Bows
1. Lynel Bow / Savage Lynel Bow
Base Attack: 12–18 per arrow (multi-shot) Location: Dropped by Blue-Maned, White-Maned, and Silver Lynels Why it's the best: Fires 3–5 arrows per shot without consuming additional arrow ammo. Dramatically multiplies material Fuse damage (each arrow carries the Fuse material = multiple hits per shot).
Best Fuse: Silver Lynel Bow Horn (multi-shot arrows) OR Elemental materials for AoE damage.
2. Great Eagle Bow
Base Attack: 14 (three arrows) Location: Given by Harth in Rito Village; reforged if broken Why use it: Repairable weapon — Harth in Rito Village will reforge it. Fires 3 arrows per shot. Like the Lightscale Trident, valuable as a renewable resource.
3. Ancient Bow
Base Attack: 45 Location: Found in locked chests in the most difficult sky island challenges (Akkala Sky Archipelago) Why use it: Fires in a perfectly straight line with no arrow drop at range. Essential for sniping distant targets and hitting Gleeok weak spots from safety.
Best Shields
1. Savage Lynel Shield
Base Attack/Guard: 68 Location: Dropped by White-Maned and Silver Lynels Why use it: Highest guard power in the game. Blocks Lynel attacks that would break most other shields in a single hit.
Best Fuse: Rocket (launch into sky on ZL + jump) or Flame Emitter (set attackers on fire on block).
2. Royal Shield
Base Attack/Guard: 55 Location: Common throughout Hyrule Castle; dropped by Black Moblins Why use it: High guard power, widely available. Reliable endgame shield before getting Silver Lynel shields.

Weapon Sustainability Strategy
Never run out of weapons:
- Pick up every weapon you encounter — even weak ones serve as Fuse bases
- Farm Lynels for Lynel-tier weapon drops (most efficient weapon source)
- Sweep Hyrule Castle for Royal Weapons on each Blood Moon cycle
- Keep 5–6 weapons with similar attack power so you always have backups
- Save your Fused high-damage weapons for tough encounters; use unfused weapons against common enemies
Blood Moon cycle farming: Hyrule Castle resets on every Blood Moon. A 15-minute sweep of the outer castle grounds yields:
- 8–12 Royal weapons (swords, claymores, spears, shields, bows)
- Multiple hearty meals from enemies
- Various materials and arrows
