FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Zonai Devices FAQ

What are Zonai devices in Tears of the Kingdom?

Zonai devices are ancient technology items left behind by the Zonai civilization. They serve as modular building blocks that Link can attach to objects using Ultrahand to create vehicles, weapons, and contraptions. Examples include Fans for thrust, Wheels for ground vehicles, Rockets for vertical launch, and Beam Emitters for combat.

How many Zonai devices are in Tears of the Kingdom?

There are over 25 unique Zonai devices spanning three main categories: Movement (Fans, Rockets, Wings, Springs, Wheels, Big Wheels, Sleds, Cart, Steering Stick), Combat (Beam Emitters, Cannons, Flame Emitters, Frost Emitters, Shock Emitters), and Utility (Portable Pots, Lights, Time Bombs, Stabilizers, Batteries, Mirrors, Stakes, Hydrants).

Where can I find Zonai device dispensers?

Zonai device dispensers are large capsule machines found across Sky Islands and the Surface of Hyrule. Major clusters exist on the Great Sky Island, Zonaite Forge Island, and sky archipelagos above each major region. Insert Zonai Charges or Zonaite into the spherical slot on top to receive random capsules. Each dispenser has a fixed pool of device types it can output.

What are the best Zonai devices for combat?

The best combat devices are Beam Emitters (consistent ranged damage, great fused to shields), Cannons (high burst damage on vehicles), and Flame Emitters (area denial). For boss fights, multiple Beam Emitters on a platform with a Steering Stick creates an automated turret. Shock Emitters excel against enemies in water, and Frost Emitters can freeze enemies for follow-up attacks.

How do you recharge Zonai devices?

Zonai devices draw power from Link's Energy Cell, which recharges automatically when not in use. To increase capacity, collect Crystallized Charges by trading Large Zonaite at Crystal Refineries in the Depths (100 charges per full ring). You can also attach Big Batteries to builds for extra energy, or use regular Battery devices to extend runtime.
