Remember — if a shrine gives Rauru's Blessing with no puzzle inside, the real challenge was reaching the entrance. Check the surrounding area!

Walkthrough

1. Step 1: Enter Kayu Shrine in the Sky region and observe the vertical layout.
2. The shrine interior is a tower-like structure with three levels stacked directly on top of each other, connected by thin floor sections that can be phased through using Ascend.
3. The entry places you on Level 1 (ground floor).
4. The altar is on Level 3 (top floor).
5. The core skill tested is identifying which ceiling sections are thin enough for Ascend to penetrate versus which are solid and impenetrable.
6. Step 2: On Level 1, look up at the ceiling.
7. Most of the ceiling is thick, dark stone — Ascend will not work through it.
8. However, one section (approximately 3 meters by 3 meters) has a distinctly lighter stone texture with a slightly translucent quality.
9. This is the universal visual cue for Ascend-compatible surfaces throughout TotK.
10. Stand directly beneath this lighter section and activate Ascend.
11. Link phases upward through the thin floor and emerges on Level 2.
12. Step 3: Level 2 is a wider platform with a treasure chest sitting on a pedestal near the east wall.
13. Open the chest to receive a Zonai Fan (a portable wind device useful for powering vehicles and creating updrafts — essential for Sky region exploration).
14. Do not skip this chest.
15. Step 4: Now look up at the Level 2 ceiling.
16. This ceiling is more complex — multiple sections appear lighter than the surrounding stone, but only one is actually thin enough for Ascend to work.
17. The correct section is the one directly above the northwest corner of Level 2, near a small stone marker on the floor.
18. The other lighter-looking sections are decoys (slightly lighter stone but still too thick for Ascend — you will see the red X indicator if you try them).
19. Step 5: Position yourself beneath the correct thin section in the northwest corner and activate Ascend again.
20. Link rises through to Level 3, the shrine's top floor.
21. The altar glows directly ahead.
22. Step 6: Claim your Light of Blessing.
23. Hidden chest: The Zonai Fan on Level 2.
24. Ability needed: Ascend is the only ability required, used twice.
25. This shrine specifically teaches the visual distinction between valid Ascend surfaces (pale, translucent stone) and similar-looking decoy surfaces that are too thick to penetrate.
26. Pro tip: When Ascend fails on a surface, the ability icon shows a red X and Link shakes his head.
27. This feedback is immediate — if you are unsure whether a ceiling is thin enough, simply try Ascend.
28. There is no penalty for failed attempts, so test every suspicious surface you encounter in shrines and overworld locations.
