Lookout Landing Skyview Tower
The first Skyview Tower you encounter, located at the main quest hub of Lookout Landing in Central Hyrule. Map region unlocked: Central Hyrule, including Hyrule Castle surroundings, Hyrule Field, and the four cardinal approach corridors. Lookout Landing serves as the de facto main quest headquarters early in the game, with Purah, Josha, Scorpis, and other key NPCs stationed here in tents and prefabricated structures. The tower sits at the geographic center of Hyrule Field, making it the single most important fast-travel hub in the entire game for mid-game exploration. A net and ladder system beneath the tower allows access to the underground Lookout Landing Depths chasm directly below — one of the earliest accessible Depths entrance points. Nearby landmarks include the Emergency Shelter housing Hyrule Castle Town refugees displaced by the Upheaval, the Lookout Landing well (which connects to underground passages), and a cooking pot and general merchant stationed in the camp. The tower itself is a Zonai-design cylindrical structure with a central launch pad and a glowing blue terminal ring. The surrounding field is open grassland with scattered ruins of the old Hyrule Field road network, giving way to rolling hills in every direction.
Activation Puzzle Walkthrough
The Obstacle
No puzzle — the tower is fully accessible from the start of the game. The door is unlocked, the interior is clear of debris, and no enemies guard the terminal.
The Solution
Simply walk inside and interact with the glowing blue terminal to activate. This is the first Skyview Tower you encounter as part of the main quest after descending from the Great Sky Island. Purah will guide you to it during the opening hours of the game — she stands just outside and triggers a cutscene showing the survey map. Activating this tower unlocks the Central Hyrule map section and enables the Purah Pad survey mode. After activation, step onto the launch pad platform at the center of the tower interior, and it catapults you skyward to survey altitude. From the sky you can see Hyrule Castle to the north, Hyrule Field to the south, and the surrounding region landmarks.
Tips
Activate this tower first — it is a required step in the main quest line and unlocks the full Purah Pad survey mission that motivates visiting all 15 Skyview Towers.
After launching, glide toward Hyrule Castle to the north to spot nearby shrine locations, cave entrances, and the Gloom-covered castle approach from the air before committing to ground travel.
Purah waits near the tower entrance and gives you the Hyrule Compendium survey mission — make sure to speak with her before and after the first activation for full quest credit.
The underground Lookout Landing Depths entrance is accessed through a hole near the base of the main platform — grab a stock of Brightbloom Seeds before descending for the first time.
Lookout Landing has a cooking pot, a general merchant selling basic materials, and a bed in the shelter — use it as your primary resupply and rest base before heading into Hyrule Field.
The net structure around the tower base has Korok puzzle seeds hidden in nearby flower rings and stacked log patterns — check the bridge edges and the large tree to the east.
From the tower launch, glide south to reach the Hyrule Field Skyview Tower region quickly for back-to-back tower activations in the central region.
A chest containing a useful early-game shield is hidden beneath the main platform — drop down from the net level and look under the wooden scaffolding on the east side.
