Step-by-Step Walkthrough

1

Complete All Dragon's Tears

Before the Master Sword becomes obtainable, you must complete all twelve Dragon's Tears memory sequences plus the secret thirteenth tear. The final memory reveals that Zelda swallowed a secret stone and transformed into the Light Dragon to carry the Master Sword across millennia of time so that Link could eventually reclaim it.

2

Locate the Light Dragon's Flight Path

Open your map and search for the golden dragon icon circling high above Hyrule. The Light Dragon follows a consistent flight path looping from the Great Plateau north over Central Hyrule, east toward Akkala, south over Necluda, and back west. Note that the dragon flies at extreme altitude — higher than most Skyview Towers can directly reach.

3

Launch and Reach the Dragon

Wait for the Light Dragon to pass near a Skyview Tower, then launch from the tower and glide toward the dragon's back. The Lindor's Brow or Thyphlo Ruins towers offer the best interception angles. You need at least two full stamina wheels or stamina-boosting food to make the glide distance. Land carefully on the dragon's broad back.

4

Pull the Master Sword Free

Walk along the Light Dragon's back to its head where the Master Sword is embedded. Interact with the sword to begin the extraction sequence, which requires a full two stamina wheels to complete. If your stamina is insufficient, cook Enduring or Energizing meals to temporarily boost your maximum. Hold the interact button through the entire cinematic animation until the sword comes free.

5

Wield the Restored Blade

The Master Sword is restored at 30 base attack power with a unique self-recharging durability system — when depleted, it regenerates after ten real-time minutes rather than breaking permanently. It deals significant bonus damage against Gloom-affected enemies, Phantom Ganon, and the Demon King Ganondorf himself, making it the ideal weapon for the final battle.

Pro Tips

1

Main quests cannot be missed. Take your time exploring the area before advancing the story.

2

Talk to every NPC in the area before and after quest events for bonus dialogue and hints.

3

Save frequently during this quest — some story sequences have tough combat encounters with no checkpoints.

4

Cook Hearty meals to gain temporary bonus hearts. Hearty Durians are the most efficient.

5

Consider equipping the Fierce Deity Set or Barbarian Armor for maximum attack power before the hardest encounters.

6

Use your Purah Pad Sensor+ to track quest-related items and materials as you explore.
