Maren's Tip
Remember — if a shrine gives Rauru's Blessing with no puzzle inside, the real challenge was reaching the entrance. Check the surrounding area!
Walkthrough
- Step 1: Enter Agus Shrine in the Gerudo region and immediately feel the heat — the chamber temperature is extreme, similar to Death Mountain conditions.
- If you lack Flamebreaker armor, your hearts will drain slowly from heat damage.
- Equip at least one piece of heat-resistant gear or drink a Fireproof Elixir before proceeding.
- The shrine features two electrified gates blocking the path to the altar, each requiring a different environmental solution to deactivate.
- Step 2: Examine the first electrified gate.
- Blue electrical arcs crackle across its metal bars — touching the gate deals electric damage and knocks you backward.
- To the left of the entry corridor, a large ice block sits on a stone pedestal.
- The ice block radiates a visible cold aura (shimmering blue mist around its edges).
- Step 3: Use Ultrahand to grab the ice block and position it directly in front of the first electrified gate, within 1 meter of the bars.
- The cold aura from the ice suppresses the ambient heat around the gate mechanism, causing its electrical charge to fail temporarily.
- The gate sparks, flickers, and goes dark — the electrical arcs disappear.
- You have approximately 12 seconds before the ice melts completely and the gate re-electrifies.
- Sprint through the deactivated gate immediately.
- Step 4: Beyond the first gate, the second electrified gate blocks the path to the altar.
- This gate requires a different approach — there is no second ice block.
- Instead, look along the right wall for a large stone water basin filled with liquid.
- The basin is heavy but movable with Ultrahand.
- Step 5: Grab the water basin with Ultrahand and carefully tilt it toward the second gate's mechanism — a metal junction box at the base of the gate where the electrical wires connect.
- Pour the water directly onto the junction box.
- Water shorts out the electrical system permanently — sparks fly, the gate arcs violently for 2 seconds, then goes completely dark.
- Unlike the ice solution, this deactivation is permanent.
- Step 6: Walk through the now-safe second gate to reach the altar.
- Claim your Light of Blessing.
- Hidden chest: After passing the first gate, check the alcove to the left before approaching the second gate.
- A chest containing a Topaz (worth 180 rupees and used for upgrading Rubber Armor) sits against the wall.
- Ability needed: Ultrahand is the only ability required — used for positioning the ice block and pouring the water basin.
- Pro tip: This shrine teaches two key environmental interactions: cold neutralizes electrical charges (temporarily), and water short-circuits electrical systems (permanently).
- Both principles apply throughout Gerudo's overworld puzzles, especially in the Lightning Temple.
