Maren's Tip

Remember — if a shrine gives Rauru's Blessing with no puzzle inside, the real challenge was reaching the entrance. Check the surrounding area!

Walkthrough

1. Step 1: Enter the shrine and observe the water system.
2. A large reservoir at the back of the chamber feeds two channels — one flowing left and one flowing right.
3. Currently, all water flows into the left channel, which leads to a dead end.
4. The right channel connects to a door mechanism but is dry.
5. Step 2: Locate the dam gate at the reservoir outlet — a rotatable stone valve that controls which channel receives the water flow.
6. Use Ultrahand to grab the dam gate and rotate it 90 degrees clockwise.
7. This redirects the entire water flow from the left channel into the right channel.
8. Step 3: Watch as water fills the right trough.
9. A buoyant wooden platform in the right channel rises with the water level, lifting a weighted door switch connected to it by a chain mechanism.
10. When the platform reaches full height, the switch triggers and the main door to the altar corridor slides open.
11. Step 4: Before proceeding to the altar, return to the now-drained left channel.
12. The water receded when you redirected flow, revealing the channel floor.
13. A chest containing a Sapphire (worth 260 rupees) sits at the bottom of the empty left trough — it was submerged and invisible when water filled this channel.
14. Step 5: Collect the Sapphire, then walk through the opened door to the altar corridor and claim the Light of Blessing.
15. Hidden chest: The Sapphire in the drained left channel is the hidden chest.
16. It is only accessible after redirecting water away from the left side.
17. Ability needed: Ultrahand is the only ability required to rotate the dam gate.
18. Pro tip: Sapphires are used for upgrading the Zora Armor set at Great Fairy Fountains — save this one if you are working toward that upgrade path rather than selling it.
