Maren's Tip
Remember — if a shrine gives Rauru's Blessing with no puzzle inside, the real challenge was reaching the entrance. Check the surrounding area!
Walkthrough
- Step 1: Enter Minetha Shrine in the Lanayru region and survey the water management system.
- Three branching water channels diverge from a central reservoir, each controlled by rotatable flow-gate valves.
- The altar sits at the far end of the rightmost channel, but its gate requires continuous water pressure to remain open — meaning you must redirect maximum flow to the right channel while starving the left and center channels.
- Step 2: Approach Valve 1 near the entry point.
- This valve controls the split between the left branch and the center-right trunk.
- Use Ultrahand to grab the valve handle and rotate it 180 degrees clockwise — this fully closes the left branch, redirecting all water flow into the center-right trunk.
- You will hear the left channel drain and the right channels surge.
- Step 3: Valve 2 sits at the mid-chamber junction between center and right branches.
- It is already positioned correctly — do not touch it.
- A bypass lever nearby is a red herring designed to trick players into opening the center branch and reducing right-channel pressure.
- Leave both Valve 2 and the bypass lever alone.
- Step 4: Advance to Valve 3 on the right branch.
- Rotate it fully counterclockwise with Ultrahand to open the right channel to maximum flow.
- Water now floods the rightmost channel at full pressure, activating the hydraulic gate mechanism at the altar approach.
- The gate rises and stays open as long as water pressure holds.
- Step 5: The elevated water level in the right channel also raises a floating walkway that was previously too low to reach.
- Jump onto this now-accessible elevated walkway and follow it to a chest containing a Royal Claymore (a 52-attack two-handed sword — one of the best weapons available in Lanayru shrines).
- Step 6: Cross the walkway to the altar platform at the far end and claim your Light of Blessing.
- Hidden chest: The Royal Claymore on the elevated walkway is only reachable after maximizing water flow to the right channel.
- If you miss it, you would need to re-solve the valve puzzle.
- Ability needed: Ultrahand is the only ability required.
- The puzzle tests your understanding of fluid dynamics and cause-and-effect reasoning across interconnected systems.
- Pro tip: This shrine's valve logic mirrors the Zora's Domain water temple puzzles — mastering water redirection here prepares you for the much larger-scale water management challenges in the Zora region main quest.
