Maren's Tip

Remember — if a shrine gives Rauru's Blessing with no puzzle inside, the real challenge was reaching the entrance. Check the surrounding area!

Walkthrough

  1. Step 1: Enter Yomizuk Shrine in the Lanayru region and observe the central mechanism — a large wooden water wheel sits partially submerged in a flowing channel, rotating clockwise under the water's natural current.
  2. The altar is on an elevated ledge approximately 8 meters above the channel floor, reachable only from the wheel's highest point of rotation.
  3. However, the clockwise rotation carries the wheel's paddles upward on the far side (away from the altar ledge), making it impossible to ride up and jump to the ledge in the default direction.
  4. Step 2: Target the water wheel with Recall.
  5. The wheel glows yellow and begins spinning in reverse — counterclockwise — which now carries its paddles upward on the near side, directly toward the altar ledge.
  6. Recall lasts approximately 15 seconds on this wheel before it reverts to clockwise, so you must act quickly.
  7. Step 3: Stand at the channel edge near the altar side and wait for a paddle to descend to your level.
  8. Jump onto the paddle as it reaches its lowest point on the near side.
  9. The reversed rotation now lifts you upward smoothly toward the wheel's apex.
  10. Step 4: At the top of the rotation arc (approximately 8 meters high), the paddle briefly pauses at the apex before beginning its descent.
  11. Jump off toward the altar ledge during this pause window — the gap is about 2 meters, easily covered with a standard jump.
  12. If the gap feels too far, deploy your Paraglider briefly for the extra distance.
  13. Step 5: On the altar ledge, check the alcove to the left.
  14. A chest containing a Zora Spear (12 attack power, fast attack speed, and deals bonus damage in wet conditions) sits against the wall.
  15. Collect it — the Zora Spear is excellent for Lanayru's water-heavy environment.
  16. Step 6: Walk to the altar and claim your Light of Blessing.
  17. Hidden chest: The Zora Spear in the left alcove on the altar ledge.
  18. Only accessible after riding the reversed wheel to the top.
  19. Ability needed: Recall is the only ability required.
  20. This shrine teaches that Recall can reverse the direction of large mechanisms, not just small objects — water wheels, gears, conveyor belts, and elevators throughout TotK can all be reversed with Recall to change their function.
  21. Pro tip: If Recall expires while you are riding the wheel upward, do not panic — immediately reactivate Recall to restart the reversal.
  22. You can chain multiple Recall activations on the same object without dismounting.
